What do you do for your PMS symptoms? - Premenstrual is bs, (wo)man

Back when I was using it, it made me feel like I was PMSing the whole month instead of a couple days
Same for me with the pill and implanon. The latter didn't even stop my periods, just made them impossible to predict.

At least now I only become an emotional wreck for about a week, can check the date and understand why, and then take the necessary steps to not ruin my underwear.

PMS week is a fucking nightmare though. Please girlies, someone tell me you've stumbled upon a magic solution that's not birth control or antidepressants (:_(

pamprin for the physical, but I'd love to know what I can do for the week before, when I'm fucking miserable
Fucking same, it makes my ADHD worse and I get insomnia. The insomnia I seem to have pretty much handled through meditation whenever I wake up (I have the type where you wake up after falling asleep, not the type where you have trouble falling asleep), but my ADHD gets worse to the point that I’m practically useless the week prior. I don’t really give a shit about some bloating or breakouts otherwise because they’re not too bad.

Midol is the best I can do. Tramadol was helpful but thanks to the opioid zombies no one wants to prescribe it anymore. Plus it made me kinda itchy and I couldn't feel the cold. Which was weird. I think it's best not to take that stuff unless you absolutely need it.

Women of kiwi farms how much better would your life be without menstruation 1 week every month? Do you think you could be more productive and more successful without one? Less horny at inappropriate times?

I know it is the bane of some women's very existence; they cannot function for three days. Always calling off of work. For others, they dont even notice until they check. And for some, their biology is so lucky that they just pop birth control pills and it's like it doesn't even exist, and they get glossy hair and no acne.

What kind were you using?
The pill. Tried two sorts but it was awful in both cases. In my case it really was a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" kind of situation, since I only got them for contraception, otherwise I've had zero major issues with Aunty Flo, and after I quit it took forever for everything to go back to normal again.

Did you try the minipill? It has less hormones and can be good for people whose bodies hate other BC.

Some people's bodies just don't like it for whatever reason, same as any other type of medication. For me the IUD was a game changer, no periods and more importantly, no more PMDD.

Previously it was like being unmedicated and suicidal and shit up to two weeks before shark week. Its done wonders for my long term mental stability.

Since I had PMDD my quality of life is significantly better not having periods. All girls and women should have that option especially if they have period-related health issues.

i'll go for walks or move around as often as i can. sitting still definitely worsens cramping. hot water bottles/electric heating pads help a little bit but will make me bleed like a stuck pig. using any kind of ibuprofen/acetaminophen/cyclobenzaprine is an absolute last resort because of how damaging it can be to the stomach & kidneys. so i usually just try to ride it out because i hate having to depend on certain things.

I got an IUD and stopped having periods
Hormone based IUDs/birth control made me batshit
Like PMDD from the depths of hell all day everyday

I know this is kinda sad to say but if I didn’t have PMDD/painful period I would be the most unstoppable bitch on the planet with all the monies
I go from being super productive to being a sad space case
Since hormones fuck me up I fantasize about hysterectomy (I’m already a mom so I’m done with my womb/ovaries lol) but that would also involve hormones and there’s major risks

The only thing that was ever positive for me was taking a low amount of testosterone but I was scared of developing cancer/voice deeper/poon clit

Eating healthier and being active have helped lighten up my PMS symptoms to the point where they're minor inconveniences. I say this as someone that was put on hormonal birth control as a pretty young kid because it was so disabling.

I put some hot water in a bottle, wrap it in a blanket, and lay down somewhere comfortable. Most of the time I only need some ibuprofen to get up and do things, and I’ve been taking iron supplements (for other reasons) since I was a teenager which helps as well.

Yeah, a fair bit. I usually manage to stay productive, but there are days when just getting out of bed can be awful.
Less horny at inappropriate times?
Has never happened to me, so I couldn’t tell. I’d hate to be a man, feeling horny all the time sounds so inconvenient.

Listening to punk/ The Mountain Goats-adjacent sad music and sulking around trying not to kill myself.
Lately I've been noticing that my PMS has been lasting for weeks before I get my actual period.

For breakouts, I am nothing without my tea tree oil.
Dude- hugs and kisses from this random evil kiwi.

Same with the PMS weeks getting longer with every year. I wonder how bad menopause is going to be? Is it going to be relieving? So much unknown there

It makes me feel less lonely to know fellow kiwi femoids go through this
