In my current understanding, I know that direct harassment and interaction with lolcows (and friends and family) is looked down upon. Discussion about person is contained within the forum. However, what are the guidelines for when the lolcow has come on the farms?

If this question has been asked before, I apologise in advance and would appreciate someone linking me to previous post. Thanks

When the lolcow comes onto the Farms of their own volition, it's open season. See Tommy Tooter, Barneyfag, the "debate user #76253 on dumb shit" threads.
Don't lure them here. Telling a cow they have a thread is likely to make them DFE (delete fucking everything). Just lie in wait and hope for the best.

On top of this, it's not a bad thing to privately interact with a lolcow to attempt to give them genuine advice to stop being one, that being said if he/she is truly a lolcow, then that advice is likely to be ignored

I don't know, I don't fully agree with that.

I kind of hate the people who use the farms as some kind of outlet for their codependency, where they lie in wait until someone comes to attention then swoop in to desperately try to save them from meanies online laughing at them. That smacks of unresolved personal issues.
The only help these people actually need is to have their ego beaten until they stop acting like weirdos, they'll survive.
