People have been ranting and raving about the Boys and Invincible as deconstructions of the superhero genre, but why does Kick Ass always get left out of the mix.

It even had a comic I think.

Because Mark Millar is an edgelord faggot.

Girth Anus is an edgelord faggot too, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Alan Moore is the archetypal edgelord faggot but Watchmen did it better decades earlier.

The real question is why hasn't anybody done a big budget adaptation of Kingdom Come, and the answer is obviously that God exists and loves us and won't let that happen.

Kick ass has a great premise but falls apart by the end because kick ass is so much less interesting than big daddy that it feels like he's butting in even though it's his story.
The reason people are talking about the boys and invincible is because their current things and I definitely wouldn't say people are raving about the boys. Tv boys will probably be remembered for slightly longer then that shit preacher show and only because grown up tumblr girls got more Jensen Ackles to stare at. Invincible will be remembered longer because even if rocky it's an actual good comic that's much more about playing with comic troupes instead of just mocking them.

That and the fact not even real life can look as realistic as Alex Ross's art.

What about Kickassia?

I liked at least the first two comic arcs. 3rd had a couple of interesting ideas, but really fell apart fast. The Hit-Girl spin off was alright. I took a look at the latest one and it didn't grab me at all.

I never read it like a superhero deconstruction, I read it like a vigilante yarn, Death Wish with capes. I'm a sucker for those.
