Just wanted to see if anybody here has been following this incredible series, I'm playing catch up and in the middle of episode 4, but while I have absolutely no clue where this plot is going (or what the hell exactly Ed Harris is doing because he hasn't interacted with any main character in this show after the first half, barring flashbacks, but the Adventures of the Man in Black is basically what happens if God Mode existed in real life and it's fantastic), it's so damn good that the glacial plot development is almost invisible with how well SoD is upheld here.

I just wish I understood what timeframe the groundhog day reset cycle was on because the only solid thing I can figure out about the way Westworld itself works is they don't use doubles, which means a robot repair timecycle of less than 6 hours for the really eviscerated robots.

It is not told linearly and jumps back and forth in time.
There are hints, such as the logo changing, Dolores' hair, places being built that were already there in a previous scene, etc.

Oh damn, I knew about the Logo switching trick, but I never noticed her hair. Didn't even think of that! Not sure what places are being built 'after' they're shown, though. I just know Sublevel B83 'Cold Storage' is the Entrance Plaza in Episode 2.

This show sucks. I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. Too slow, like barely anything is explained so far and it's 6 episodes in right? The characters are all flat, I don't give a shit about any of them. This is not a $100m series, it's almost as bad as Game of Thrones when it comes to tone.

I find it weird that it cost over $100m to make when it's reusing sets from Django Unchained. The effects are alright but they're obviously fake. Same with a lot of the scenery.

The main character in this show looks like my profile image of photoshopped Pixyteri

Anyone still watching this? After season 1 I just wasn't sure where they were going to take this... and apparently they didn't either. Season 2 was a mess.

Anyway, in season 2 dolores became a monstrous killer, seemingly wanting to kill all humans. Some fans decided they didn't like her. Obviously this is because they're sexists...

I'm reminded of the same thing happening with Skylar on breaking bad. It couldn't be that Skylar was angrily glaring into the camera in every single scene she was in, or that she was the designated buzzkill of the show, or that she really wasn't that great a person herself, it had to be sexism...

To be honest there should be a celebrity cow moments thread for stuff like this. Anna Gunn has said some really stupid shit over this, and Evan Rachel Wood called out Ben Affleck on a comment Kevin Smith made 20 years ago, got told she was an idiot, then deleted the thread and said it was because she was being trolled, not because she got called out for being an idiot.

Última edición:
There's a lot of baffling plot holes and inconsistencies in this second season. It is established in the first season that the robots are by default purposely programmed to be poor shots in order to make it easier for the visitors, and it's reinforced in the second season that the robots' core skills and aptitudes can't be modified without being hooked up to a computer and worked on by a trained technician. But when they gain sentience at the start of the second season, the robots suddenly all become superhuman gunslingers without any outside input.

I dunno, I thought the Indian episode was excellent simply to show what exactly has been going on with Ghost Nation.

The finale kinda didn't know what to do with half the characters though. Maeve's storyline went NOWHERE even after Ford basically gave her superpower codes or whatever, ShogunWorld was utterly pointless, and all then new characters introduced in this season managed to all die so really all that happened is Dolores and Bernard got out of the park.

Oh, and that post-credits scene? According to the writers that probably isn't even going to factor into S3. Popular theories suggest that whenever this Host-MiB occurs, he's looping through the events right before he gets his hand blown up, which is why they even included that scene.

I'm really just sticking with Westworld at this point just to see what the hell they do now.

No question it's exceptional as hell, but I'll watch almost anything with Western aesthetic and theme. Guns, horses, hats, that stuff is like crack to me.
The crux of my problem with Red Dead Redemption 2... bullshit practices, but I really want that RDR Online. Surprised I was able to resist Westworld, though. I guess since it wasn't set in the actual Old West.

then watch some more man
I'm actually going all the way back and starting to watch those old ass, black and white John Ford Westerns from the '30s, '40s, and '50s. At the more recent end of Western filmography, I literally already watched all those deconstrucionist/revisionist westerns of the late '60s and '70s, like Peckinpah, Eastwood, and all the good Spaghetti Westerns, and at the far end of early Western films, I already seen all the great silent Westerns and Civil War type films.

I guess I just don't get what the draw is supposed to be to this show any more. Season 1 had the introduction, the build up, all the action, stuff happened and it was interesting.

Season 2: The robots are killing people for some reason, and they want to keep killing people. Also the people are helping the robots kill people. Also the robots are killing the other robots. For some reason there's not an off button or self destruct feature on these dangerous robots.

Like... what's the draw of this? It's so stupid I can't really feel sorry for these people, but also, why do I want to watch asshole robots murder people? Are they banking on people being so self-loathing that they want humanity to be murdered? That's... a weird premise.
