Only kids with rich parents had those early Walt Disney Home Video tapes since this was before VHS tapes were priced-to-own, often being more expensive than owning movies on Laserdisc (which was already around in the 1980s though many of them were still branded as "Discovision" if I remember correctly). I think it'd be a few more years before Top Gun ushered in the priced-to-own revolution in 1987 (yeah, it was 1986 movie but this was back when home video releases regularly didn't happen until at least a year after the theatrical release).
