He got ten. What I am convinced happened is it got picked up under the impression it would be a thirteen episode season, and then halfway through production [as] cut them down to ten. I’m sure enough that I think it was initially announced and advertised at thirteen.

I'm not sure tacking three more eps onto it would've helped. I'm baffled that he took away the girl at the last moment due to some bullshit time logic no one cares about, and that he didn't make taking down Aku a team effort, to redeem Jack for his countless diversions to save lives by having them repay the favor. Could've been accomplished with a very few changes and no additional time. Maybe he just wanted it to faceplant at the last moment as revenge for not getting his 13?

Quite a few animated series, especially the indie kind, get any sort of viewer attention through shipbait alone, the gay kind on particular. Take RWBY or Hazbin Hotel for example.

Come to think of it, AT may have been one of the first ones to really take advantage of it in the western animation department back in the day. It wasn't a tease of the MC ending up with an obvious love interest like usual, but several potential ones, and a quite a few side character couple teases as well. People say the og Avatar series was the same but imo it was more of a fan induced phenomenon rather than authors actively capitalizing on it, initially. The Korra series was fully taking advantage of it though.

What I am trying to say, many shows nowadays are such tasteless garbage writing wise, people just watch them for the dopamine brought by shipping. I don't blame them.

I doubt that even a half of users sperging about Finn and who he should have ended up with are either. Men like their harem series and betting on the "winning horse" after all.
