>So many times, young girls in movies and TV talk about boys, or they're princesses.
Yes, because that's what they talk about, and what they fantasize about being, respectively. Stereotypes exist for a reason, dumbass.

Wanna know why this movie became the last major success among that demographic? Because the 3 leads looked cool, did cool shit,

and had oodles of those boys to gawk at.
To be fair, the last animated movie I remember that focused on a group of (mostly) regular schoolgirls was EXTREMELY boycrazy and also a flop. I feel like the kpop girls are included in the princess category tbh, the movie seems like its gonna be about 2 regular modern day people having unusual things happen to them rather than someone less reletable like royalty or superpowered popstars.

Sure but none of the main girls in that movie were cute and all of them were annoying assholes. Being cute and/or pleasant goes a long ways both in fictional characters and in real life.

Usually the real outcasts either 1. have something easy to shit on like being fat or a turboautist or bad hygiene 2. be a completely unlikeable cunt or 3. just not standing out at all while also being too shy to approach others. Its clearly not 3 and theres nothing visually wrong with her so that just leaves being a cunt or smelling like
The first expression we saw of her in the trailer has the "unlikeable cunt" part down pat. The trailer was enough to make me dislike this character already.

I don’t think parents were too keen on a movie about a pubescent girl showing her “panda” to other kids and selling photos of it for profit.

I remember that some lefties were defending Turning Red because "muh Chinese immigrant experience" it did work as an excuse for Cuties and it dosen't work for that, plus aside from a poorly thought out puberty metaphor done with all the subtlety of a dick in the ass that's lost very quickly it also dosen't help that its a "fuck you mom" story that ends on a weird abortion joke/reference that's insanely jarring to any adult viewers.

That has to be the creator not thinking through what the panda represents and thus the implication of what she's saying the character is doing, unless she did porn/escorts in the past and we're just not aware of that.

I can believe Disney would just put out a movie encouraging kids to secretly sell photos of their impressive new growths in order to obtain funds for the stuff your parents won't buy you
I didn't hear about the abortion part but that doesn't surprise me

Don't cocktease me like that, I love that film and it's rare that I find someone who doesn't. I always love a good hot take.
When I was a little kid I didn't like it because Fievel is unhappy 90% of the film. It made me feel bad. Not to say every story needs to have characters smiling all the time, but that's how I felt as a child watching a movie allegedly made for kids. The happy scenes couldn't make up for all the dirty scenery, ugly adults, and child trafficking. My fav scene has always been the cockroach counting coins lmao.

As an adult, I see it as pro-immigration propaganda.

"muh Chinese immigrant experience"
They aren't wrong, it's just that the "Chinese Immigrant Experience" is an insane tiger mom who doesn't really love you and just sees you as a retirement plan.

The family uses oriental woowoo magic to seal away their kaiju transformation powers and the main girl refuses with the statement "MOOOOOOM! My panda, my choice!"

Totally fair, I get that.

I don't mind stories influenced by the creators' culture, but I don't get why little girls wanting to be princesses is so bad. You get to wear pretty dresses, live in a big castle, and do whatever you want. What little girl wouldn't want that kind of life? They always talk about "toxic masculinity", yet girls not wanting to be like men is bad?

Even the recent stuff with the boy mermaid, you can understand why he would want to be pretty like a mermaid princess.

So... what does that make the mom turning into Pandazilla during the clim--third act?

Didn't know the gag from Family Guy was so on-point.
