Listening to Wesley Willis's Greatest Hits album is a trip. The first 5 or 6 tracks are a lot of fun, but by about track 12 it gets a little tiresome. By track 18 I'm ready to stop listening, however I'll push on as I know the album will be over soon. Then "I Wupped Batman's Ass" kicks in and I'm glad I stuck with it. By the end of the album I'm happy, but I don't want to listen to it again for at least 6 months.

I was on a Retard Bus myself a few days ago, with noisy... Nigerians(?), though they didn't speak English, so I dunno, loudly sperging out to the likes of Taio Cruz and other chart topping club-ish crap I ain't heard since high-school. Taio's stuff is quite decent, though, it's just... that song, which I can't remember the name of.

I was recently told told I was a bad person because I enjoy the music of Wesley Willis.

The person told me 'have you ever talked to someone with schizophrenia? If you had you wouldn't appreciate this'.

Are people with schizophrenia not allowed to be artists? Am I not supposed to enjoy art made by someone with schizophrenia?

Wesley recorded songs that make me experience a wide range of emotions, often humor (which I think was intentional in my opinion) and sadness and introspection over the existence some people live which is sadder than any perspective I can possibly experience first hand.

Is the point of art not to make someone feel some kind of feeling?

To write Willis off and tell me I shouldn't listen to his music because it offends you seems both ableist and dismissive, in the parlance of our times.

Edit: Wesley Willis Fiasco album goes so hard fucking great album, produced by the same guy who produced Surfer Rosa and In Utero.

My first true girlfriend surprised me with tickets to see him in concert. We got headbutts & an autographed flyer. I wish I’d bought one of his prismacolor drawings but I just didn’t have that kind of disposable income. One of the most wholesome memories, I feel blessed to have seen him though he was best with the Fiasco backing him. A dude at the show got up on stage right and shouted at him to play whatever & Wesley coldly replied ”LET ME PLAY MY ROCKNROLL SONGS. GET OFF THE STAGE BEFORE I TELL ON YOU.” Funniest shit.

The Vultures Ate My Dead Ass Up
Excellent title for a song about vultures eating a dead deer then flying away at 150mph.
