Modern authors don't trust their audience to think on the story rather than consoom it and move to the next one (due to it beint their own behaviour), so everything is exaggerated and there is no subtext.

To be fair if I saw my audience interpret things the way Wendi and, when he can be fucked to, meat do, I’d spell shit out so a blind kindergartener with downs could read it.

I could see meat canyon having a controversy "why are you goyium upset that I Trooned my 5 years old cousin? Lotus Eaters are a gaggle of faggots, and Old Glory Club seems to be a little hugbox for totally super based young conservatives to larp as men of culture because they write articles about wearing tweed suits and how cool Sam Hyde is. So I could absolutely see Goon being a fan of these things and thinking it would be some major controversy.

I think it is the reverse. Meat is an edgy liberal slob and his audience are also mostly edgy liberals, he has enough right opinions to prevent him from being an active target for cancellation. Wendi on the other hand is a soft wholesome christian family man who is threading the fine line between a fanbase of anti government chuds, fellow Christians, and reddit liberals. Let's say it came out that both Meat and Wendi hooked up with groupies during their Creepcast tour. Meat can tank it if he played his cards right because never really broke character for lack of a better word. Meanwhile Wendi will get absolutely destroyed because it fly in the face of his whole brand and online persona.

I still think that if Hunter went full woke he would lose a large portion(not all but some) of his fanbase and get groomed by the far left like Yms did "no he was always a furry and gay" yeah, but he used to hang out with skeptics back in the day.

But there have been people who attacked him for his conservative leanings and prior tweets and it is either ineffective or backfires spectaclerly.

Wendi is hiding his power level to avoid backlash and controversy for sure, but I think it goes both ways. The dude has a conservative past and is deeply religious, but he also surrounds himself with more liberal types in both his friend group and staff who I suspect is rubbing off on him. If Wendi was open about his actual opinions he will find a way to piss literally everybody off.

IDM the glaze and the disclosure, he handled that part right and they have been friends for years.

Even if the acting is dogshit I'm sure the technical aspects will be great, there's a reason A24 locked Kane into that contract before he was even 18. He made all the music for this himself too IIRC, and he does really solid ambient stuff that I have on my ambient playlist.

I rewatched the ouija board/ronald mcdonald house episode of creepcast and was once again compelled to go digging for Giorgi's background tracks. Thankfully I didn't have to dig too far this time as he's started uploading everything to youtube music. He's got two Creepcast albums, fortune cookie. and fall again. The song that inspired my search was the one playing during the Ronald McDonald House story, "greed"

I have to say, Ronald McDonald House really grew on me hearing it a second time. I can't say exactly what I like about it but it's extremely enjoyable even outside of being good-bad, maybe it was just because of how much more of the music I heard since I listened on my best music-y headphones rather than it being drowned out by highway noise in my truck

I wonder how Kane will do post backrooms. Watching his stuff, especially his other works like Oldest View and and People Still Live Here he clearly wants to be an avant-garde arthouse type filmmaker that tells a slowburn story with deep meanings through symbolism and snippets of lore. That is not a problem I fully support a director that wants to pursue his vision. But most of his audiance clearly just wants a scary monster chase through liminal spaces and don't care too much about the artistic fluff of what the story is actually about. You can see it with the view numbers of his other works where most people just watched the part with the monster chase.



A24 is the best fit studio for him, but I am not sure mainstream Hollywood is for him with the non backrooms stories he wants to tell.

God Damn it is a long video. I'm plowing through it still and am now at the analyst. One thing I find kind of odd is how he focuses so much on the theory that memories of individual humans shaping the backroom architecture using evidence like the guy has a drum set IRL and he sees a drumset in the backrooms as proof. But given its jumbled clusterfuck nature it seems more like a noosphere type deal (the dude is a fan of Stalker and SCP he should know what it is). The vibe I get is as the backrooms get more and more cracked open by Async the more it is able to draw upon the collective ideas and memory of humanity and grow more complicated and sophisticated rooms the replica living room at the end of the 3rd tape or able to generate details that most people would have no idea about it like what is above the drop ceiling.

The Backrooms only works as a concept due to being derived from video games wonky hit boxes and filler areas. Trying to fit in lore about it is just forced. Nevermind the sheer hypocrisy of Wendigoon fellating the author for doing pretty animations for a concept he didn't even thought of with the most bland Evil Corp. Cold War setting.

Overanalyzing babyy. Anyway it fits thematically and story-wise, and plus the Oldest View is also about memory and personal experience so it's reasonable to think the two series touch on different aspects of the same themes.

And in the same way Ivan Beck spent decades pursuing the project in search of something he lost (or thought he lost), this dimension is recreating our world looking for something it never had Form, I think. It's guided by experience and memory perhaps because those exist in a form most similar to it, in the only form it can understand. The lighting and tile survey hints of something else, too. Almost like it can peer into those spaces directly and recreate them in its own way. We know it's unbounded by time as we know it...

So if I had to guess the series is one long march towards this realization and confrontation, with the researchers and the found footage victims being the pawns that drive the story forward. Ivan Beck finds what he's looking for and it's just him, or rather the thing that imagined itself to be him, and it itself will find the thing it never could have created even with all the time that could ever exist... Or something I don't fucking know anymore. Maybe the whole thing collapses in on itself and California is obliterated from the map, but leaves humanity the gift of infinite energy in its wake.

I don't think he is deeply religous. The exuse for him being able to cope with faggotry and Hunter being a dildo salesman was always that he was a love the sinner hate the sin typ of christian but that was disproved during the Angel engine AI arc.

One clip I saw was of Wendi discussing prementions that they had during highschool and one of them was that women care for what car you have. Which Wendi said they absolutely do not care.

A big theme of the Oldest View is about societal knowledge and collectively forgetting something (like the botanist and soon the mall), which is why I think the backrooms is a jumbled mess of broader human experience that is growing stronger as it interacts with our world rather than a reflection of individual people that visit it. It makes more sense than Wendi justifying why the backrooms is yellow because some European castles had yellow wallpaper so the backrooms are yellow because Ivan was the first to visit the backrooms and he is from Europe just sounds like a complete ass pull.

In one video there was an overlay of an atom bomb going off, I could see him continue to nuclear parallel with the backrooms being a source of mankind's destruction or incredible boon to humanity. Still don't see much of use of the backrooms for mankind yet. It isn't even good for storage because of the life forms and the fact it can randomly send your ass through time and space if it feels like it.

The Twilight Zone was able to do the concept back in the 60s with little girl lost where a girl who phased though the wall in her bedroom and ended up in a different dimension, so you can do it without the context of video games. Honestly Kane handled the concept pretty well. He could have went with the backroom wikis that literally read like terrible video game walkthoughs.
