i get the sense that when welper was a young doughboy he was the kid who always belted out a hearty "DOOOOOOOOOOOODuh!" at every little thing. a braggadocious "DOOOOOOODuh, look at my new bakugans!" in homeroom here, a frantic "DOOOOOODUH THAT'S NOT FAAAAAAIIRRUH!!" on the playground there, an aggrieved "DOOOOOOOODUH YOU'RE FRICKIN HAACKIIIINGUH STAAAAAWWWWWP" over a black ops lobby on a friday night. for me, his posts are a portal to a simpler time when playground political discourse amounted to "thanks, OBAMA!" from the boys and "you're RACYIST!" from the girls. although kids like welper annoyed me, once or twice a year i'd catch a dullness in their eyes or a lump in their throat twitch as they shuffled toward their dads' dilapidated, pissing calvin sticker-clad f150s in the student pickup lane that let me know i should soften my heart toward them. all of this is to say, he's my favorite fat guy on the farms by a mile. i hope his aorta never tastes defeat in its decades-long civil war with the fry cook at his local crown burger.
