Weird and Cringe things you've seen while working in IT - Since everyone is too lazy to make such a thread where IT bros can vent

I try to tell myself that helping my elderly parents with tech is good for me (and it is). But after I went to the trouble of installing a couple of AI apps for them and giving some basic training, I told my mom that she could ask ChatGPT or Claude the next time she needs help converting Celsius to Fahrenheit for a recipe. “I’d rather ask you,” she said with a smile and absolutely no shame.

I caught a resentment, ngl.
I wouldn't know whether to feel bad or feel used.
for some retarded fucking reason instead of escalating tickets to other teams they instead want me to escalate all tickets to some retarded QA group that this T1 fag is part of so they can check it for anything "wrong" before sending it to the appropriate group. so of course every ticket gets delayed an hour or more so some retarded redditbrained zigger can check if it follows our arbitrary process or send you a passive-aggressive teams message if you missed unwritten rule #564.
I hear you. I have to escalate calls, which can take forever. Make notes of the customer’s issues, have them reproduce it, create a ticket, wait for a response. It’s not like I can just check in since I’m between calls. I’ll have to ping somebody to ask if they saw my ticket, that is if it wasn’t lost in queue.

MDM is the answer, but I haven't used any non-commercial ones so I am not sure what's out there for your situation, but there has to be something.
The only one i can recommend after testing a dozen is ninjaRMMs one which is not an option for home use.
Manageengine has a free version for selfhosting but it's a jeeted piece of shit, and you need windows and MSSQL for it.

There is also headwindMDM if you're not against doing business with Russians, wasn't allowed to try it out but it looks pretty simple if a little spartan, Mostly noticed this one because the devs are attempting at making it work with Graphene.
