A group of student at UNC has given this list of demands to their faculty to combat the "anti-blackness" they feel surrounds and attacks them every day.

Do read it, they're legit serious and totally reasonable demands! They actually end the 50 plus pages of demands with the statement;


We Are here to take what is ours. Tear it down, or we shut you down!

The sad part is the media and part of the faculty is taking this serious. Arranging a meeting with the leaders of this group to discuss the concerns.

CNN says (as of May 2015) that the country in the world with the highest minimum wage is Australia, with a weighted after-tax value of $9.54/hr (USD). The U.S., coming in 11th, has a federal minimum wage at $7.25/hr, after tax $6.26.

In any event, who do they think would be paying for these wage increases? Do they think the money will just appear by magic? If it came from anywhere, it would be from increased tuition, but of course, they're simultaneously demanding that be lowered. Obviously, you can't have both.

But if they don't get it, they'll throw a tantrum!

The only reason this worked at UMissouri is because the football team joined in a sympathy strike. Colleges are run like businesses. They care about their bottom line, everything else is a distant second. The rest of these groups have zero leverage. At best they can hope to get lip service and maybe a scapegoat to blame.

By the way, with all of these requests for demands flying around, just what would happen if the admins outright reject the lot of them?

They absolutely can and absolutely should. If these weenies feel so "unsafe" and miserable and wish they were home, they can go home. I'm sure there are more than enough potential students who would jump at the chance to go to what is supposed to be a prestigious school.

A college administration should under no circumstances kowtow to childish, petty, frankly unrealistic and impossible demands to alter its curriculum because someone obviously looking to be offended will say they're offended.

They should go fund SafeSpace University, where no one's fragile sense of self will be shattered by the harsh reality of having to meet (and exceed) expectations to get anywhere in life, where admission is open to any and all regardless of skin color, ethnicity, sexual identification, or kintype, or academic ability.

Except that would take money earned from the jobs these most special of snowflakes won't get, because they're too triggered by learning, and interviews, and stuff.

My school has a party like this running for a student government position. They go by By Any Means Necessary up here. BAMN is a clusterfuck that thinks barging into closed meetings will get their demands met. They could almost warrant whole posts to their mess.

Social Justice and college administration don't mix well, but it doesn't stop them from trying.
