Many new users (myself included) start off by making a very autistic thread that gets immediately deleted. Perhaps we could require 10-25 posts on threads to make users get to know the forum before they can create a thread

Are you trying to make things less fun?

This sorta makes sense. But people could just spam posts until they can make a thread. Maybe you need a minimum post and positive ratings? But what if a newcomer has some really compelling content we miss out on cuz they can't make a thread? Maybe a message saying "if you really think you have something compelling to post, message a mod"? But this could equally result in mods having to deal with more autism than they already do.

Been suggested before, been shot down before. Some people register specifically to create a good lolcow thread or do an AMA on a topical board and taking that away is not worth it.
