Never in my life did I think there'd be a day when a collector's edition Blu-Ray of fucking Mac and Me would get released, much less an alternate Japanese ending being found.

I wonder why it never turned up before now, though...

Pretty much anyone can buy DVD/Blu-Ray distribution rights to a movie. Basically you stamp 'em out and market them as you like and then the originating studio gets a cut from the sales.
