A not so renown YouTuber DJ Peach Cobbler (Alcoholic, Dirt bag Leftist, and Raped by a Woman) in his never ending spiral of a knight errants quest of trying to make white people as evil as possible and the source of all evil released a video on the #1 biggest indicator for a man being a Performative Reader- Blood Meridian. His analysis of the book itself (if it could be called that) is certainly better than Wendigoon regurgitating the plot with "The Judge...bad?" stamped onto it. It is an exploration of conquistadors, fairy tales, and war is Le bad. Six out of ten, could have used more Family Guy clips.

My main issue with the video is not necessarily the takeaway he presents but part of it. That Chivalric Romances were merely political tools used to justify war for money because money and white people- you get the deal. I assert that is not the case at all. In fact, Chivalric Romances were in truth, trying to make sense of a world in which War is God. We can't escape war, it's just going to happen. But we can fight for the right reasons- honor, dignity, glory. These aren't evils. They can certainly be manipulated for that purpose, but in a world where we're always going to fight it had better be for reasons that make sense. And just stamping "War le bad." on it and calling it a day is very lazy and childish. Of course it's bad. But you can't stop a whirlwind or tidal wave because it's bad. It's gonna happen. So you may as well have your stories that fuel and motivate you rather than just downsizing and denigrating everything.

Also he claims that the Glanton Gang is proof of White Supremacy being retarded because of White Jackson being killed by a black man worse than him in every conceivable way and the fortune tellers in the desert being covered in dust hides their skin? But it's not like the dust is their skin, when they wash it off they are shown for what tribe and race they are. Which is brown.

Op's post feels like nonsensical rambling. Going to the only salient post in this thread, the title of the OP, no romantic chivalry wasn't political propaganda. It was just old people romanticizing the past and young people picking up on their habits; nothing more. Ancient people were just as pragmatic and practical as we are today with their own issues and problems unique to their time. Blood meridian has absolutely nothing to do with this holy fuck.

Chivalry in the context of War was a set of war rules. Never said “war is bad”, under chivalry if your opponent surrenders you are obligated to take their surrender, this is possibly one of the many standards that the Geneva convention was based on.

Romantic chivalry was a code of conduct in how a man was suppose to act towards a lady.

On romanticism, it’s a way of glorifying the past giving it a sort of mysterious allure. Though it’s not a mystery they were just like us, if not better.
