I fear this game may (not will) be a case of a good game that somehow gets worse with each update. I could be wrong but it seems people's opinions keep going slightly lower and lower by the update.

I think it’s a more unique situation in with they’re willing to backtrack or make minor adjustments as needed. They’ve already made minor tweaks to Finn, TAZ and Garrett since the last big update. I follow the main guy’s Twitter and he’s always going into specifics on what moves are tweaked and whatnot or what the overall plan is for a character adjustment.

Call me cynical but it's very obvious that this game isnt even close to "release ready" so they rushed the hell out it in order to get it on EVO and now that its online they hope that battle pass money will be enough to fuel development.

tbh i'm not that mad since i dont care about having new content every week like every modern Game as a service but i hope it wont harm them on the long run, like all the redditors i see calling the game "dead" already.

I do feel the casual influx stopped and now its mostly sweaty tryhards playing 24/7. I tried to learn steven today and every 1-2 matches was against some level 28+ shaggy/lebron and every 2-5 matches someone lagging nonstop. I've been having more fun fucking around on free for all than 2v2.

btw fuuuuuuck the "Kill 25 people below 60%" challenge, that one is fucking impossible unless someone is brain dead or AFK, my best bet was playing with bots and trying to cheese with superman grab.

It’s still season one, it’s not like it isn’t coming soon. Just within the next couple months.

They probably did get rushed out for Evo, but it’s not like the game is utterly unplayable or anything. But yeah, it’ll be nice when the sweatys move to ranked and casuals gets less toxic overall.

Wow they actually nerfed iron giant again despite the reddit and twitter outcries that he was "thrash" and should be getting buffs huh? I dont play him but i always felt like he was a easy pub stomper at best and pure cancer to fight at worst. He's the only character in the game that can get out of stunlock using barrier and a super easy to hit grab that can kill confirm into anything.

But turns out he has "abnormally high win rates on all levels" so everyone was lying out of their asses lol. A pleasant reminder to not balance the game around vocal scrubs.

Garnet is my best pick (i just find her kit very flexible and useful) but i dont know what the hell they can do to make her good without changing her kit. All her aerial moves are slow and you cant really combo into your specials so she's better off on the ground doing jabs and claps. She's a ground based character in a game where everyone wants to fly around throwing quick moves.

A shame about ice to beat you, i think learned i bought it for superman but now it's thrash. I get that some combos will be broken but if you're going to murder these passives this bad (wow 1 ice stack, thanks for nothing), might as well remove them. The perk that gave gray HP to allies was also interesting but it was too good with tom and velma so they killed it too.

His stun lock breaking and super high weight make him an extremely cheap character if your partner knows how to capitalize on it. That grab though? It's not easy to land at all, the hitbox on it is all kinds of weird, and even at 150% everyone breaks out before I can throw them or land a follow up.

Morty is legitimately broken, and not in the good way. His basic attack combo doesn't combo and just goes into a long punishable state for no reason. I like him, but it is not even worth playing him until they fix this. What a fucking oversight.

If it’s that bad, I’m sure a patch will come out in a few days to correct it. Players First seem to really follow the data on people playing to make adjustments.

Morty is atrocious in his current state. He's supposed to be a brawler, but most of his attacks are cooldown projectiles, and his specials have long cooldowns, long ranged projectiles. He has no armor moves or break moves.

His neutral and up has long range, low knockback projectile that goes on cooldown. On cooldown, it launches a piss poor projectile that does no knockback and minimal damage. His side combo is awful. Hammer Morty is a terrible move and his whip doesn't even connect. None of the ground move can confirm at 100%. Not even fully charged hammer.

His specials are all projectiles, or long cooldown specials. I think they all interact with the grenade in some way.

His air attacks are decent but nothing special.

I like her because she's the only one who feels like she has a complete moveset. You can still have decent specials, even if your skills are on cooldown.

I tried playing Batman and his movement feels incomplete. I find it annoying that I press a button and my character just stands there.

I know the game doesn't have regular directional and smash directional, but changing the combo based on your input would be nice.

Neutral A is a fox/falco hybrid handgun. Doesn't travel far, is slower than fox's handgun in melee but does more damage like falcos and is faster than his too. The first hit being a hitstun cool down is fine, otherwise it would be either pathetic without it or broken with all hits doing hitstun/knockback.

Doing the neutral A during the side combo is better than the hammer for the fact it's guaranteed to hit.

Down S looks to be the best off stage pursuit move in the game for recovery alone. Plus I imagine some wacky hijinks can be done with it.

Grenades are interesting in that you can still hit them with other moves and they turn into projectiles as they fly, plus can be detonated with gun. Can split them up into two/four/six grenades if hit by the side B in which they turn into a worms like cluster bomb. Prefer them over the basketball for sure.

Down A is eh. It's a 2v2 move for the most part but at least you can combo from it even when moving.

Up S is going to be a troll move. If you are frozen or charmed, you are most likely done in by Up S dragging you to your doom. (Edit: frozen/charmed characters just phase through it) I am going to enjoy seeing some cheesy KOs with it.

Air Side S is a weird one. Absolutely used for recovery and pursuit with the armour being applied. Speeding projectiles with the big portal may benefit tom and jerry plus Velma a bit.

Side S seems to cover Morty when just pressed. Have to see if it will end up as a bait move for Rushdown players when they do an armour less move.

Air down A is bad for the reason that the hitbox does not match the swing animation from a distance. It's blatant on how that swing effect from the arm is way too far and gives an illusion that it should him.

That's how I feel about Morty ATM. Really feels like he is more mage than brawler, more than bugs does even. Have to see what he's like online in 1v1 and 2v2.

Morty feels unfinished as fuck. I play on portuguese and morty has NO VOICE ACTING. Some of his moves have no sfx, his subtitles are in english and his move list is half english and half portuguese (which i'm not sure how its even possible???).

Balancewise he makes no sense. He's a Brawler but his main focus is grenades+pistol while also having a heal/save and gimmicky specials? His aerials are also extremely damn good, to the point i saw a lvl 14 morty who stomped me without ever using grenades.

edit: I played a bot match and got a morty ally and his ufo completely breaks the AI. Either he stands still and suicides or an enemy stands still and does nothing. This might be really good for cheesing challenges i guess.

That's my point tho, it was already bad and they nerfed it to death. It was only worth using on Superman due to his ice breath + frozen dmg boost card but they killed it because it created one broken combo for Taz that lets him spam tornado.

Like, we dont even have a real "ice character" and they already nerfed the ice card. Either balance the characters around cards or dont let them get EVERY SINGLE card, dont kill 2 mediocre cards because of one specific character combo.

That's kinda how I feel about fucking Superman. Nigger can get beaten to 120-150%, get hit with a fully charged attack and somehow survive, but if you're above like 30% and made the mistake of detaching your feet from the floor, he's just going to carry you off the top of the screen.

I just dodge or use a side attack to avoid any up attacks characters have personally. Or just move sideways as much as possible.

Except "experimental" isnt supposed to mean obviously unfinished, it's supposed to mean experimental, as in extremely gimmicky and potentially buggy characters, like Lebron and Iron giant, who are coincidentally the only 2 characters with different "modes" in the game. Lebron was clearly made much earlier in development considering his animations are polished and he has a lot of voice lines and interactions.

The fact they not only didnt record new lines for morty but somehow didnt recycle any for other languages either makes it obvious that morty wasnt supposed to release now, but between Stripe, Black Adam and Morty, it makes sense they would choose him first (even if it was delayed by one week) so people can shut up about lack of new content for a bit.

Superman is my "emergency counter pick" and i'd say he's actually hard carried by the grabs, 1-2 jab and armored smashes so if they nerf those he'll be kinda useless. His main weaknesses are obvious: short range aerials, enemy armor breaks and missing grabs but most of the time it pays off anyway .

Like, if you get launched upscreen that's on you but what makes Supes a super fun "troll character" is dunking people near the ledge. I fought much better players than me and they will often try to spike me on the edge wall but then i get a lucky grab -> down throw and that 100% dmg lead is lost.

I hope they dont nerf the up grab but i can foresee it since its SUCH a scrub killer. If you're against bad players you can just dunk them over and over again, especially on free for all.

this game really bugs me on fundamental levels for shit like exactly that sentence fragment, but the idea that at some point Alex DeLarge just trots in and beats everybody the fucking face with his cane keeps me morbidly interested enough to keep up with the thread
