It kinda teeters on the edge of the realm of Idols I guess, where they pretend to be single so the sweaty adult men will keep buying their merch with the fantasy that they, someday, might get to date them.

Now they've found the ultimate combo. They get the otaku whales (which is why most anime looks like it does now and what vtubers are based on aesthetically) AND the idol whales in one fell swoop.
 
This thread is sad the waifuist are sad. The alogs in this thread are sad too, I'm sad, we're sad. Such is the case of diseased threads.

The waifu subreddit is a legit cult. Like I thought it was going to be speds simping for there favorite characters and going off by how much they have a crush on them. But it's so much worse than I thought.

This is bordering dangerously close on schizo territory. I'm concerned.

Also, I know this has probably been said before on this thread, but it begs saying again: why does everyone on r/waifuism have the hots for the most fugly characters imaginable? There's literally thousands upon thousands of conventionally attractive characters they can choose from, but yet they keep digging around in the bottom of the metaphorical dumpster. Do they just hate themselves that much?

My best guess is the more ugly and obscure the character the less likely they will have to share their wife/husband and get triggered by shitty fan art?

I don't know where to even begin with this. The fact that she commissioned someone to make her a Squidward fuckdoll, the fact that she goes into detail about the Squidward fuckdoll on a completely public subreddit, or the fact that her and the Squidward fuckdoll are now apparently divorced (whatever divorcing a fuckdoll looks like).
This truly is a godless land.

I honestly suggest taking the time to re-read through the thread when you have time to slug through it all. It's gotten a little quiet on the particularly crazy waifuist front, but we've had some great "I'm bringing my homemade lifesize cutout of my husbando to thanksgiving and fighting with my family over it" moments just a few months ago, plus a lot of classics earlier/deeper in the thread. It's pretty fun.

I do find it interesting though that the adult women who are waifuists are significantly more batshit than the men.
