Don't worry I get what you are saying. And I am not disagreeing entirely, but it feels a bit strange because Valve should be commended for they went about Steam and the digital future, but that success clearly had an adverse effect on the entire industry.

Yeah. They should be celebrated and brought to question at the same time.

I am also part of the problem, I think I stopped buy physical PC games around 2012. I rejected anything pro consumer that physical media offered for convince. But that begs the question, should the consumer purposefully deny himself from some advantages because the knows that his actions will inadvertently have negative consequences ? Or should sovereign nations and their institutions on a national and international level patronize consumers for their own benefit and safeguards industries from their own destructive tendencies ?

It’s a nuanced subject. That’s part of why I hate these moral grandstanders and selective outragers.

I've been considering selling my PS5, to be honest; I've got a lot of games that I do enjoy on it, but with all of the shit Sony's been doing as of late, it's getting increasingly hard to support the company. Most of the games I like were on the PS4 anyways, though there are a few I admit I'd miss.

I mean if you dont need to sell it dont you loose nothing by not selling it and just cancel the PSN subscription and you will be ok. (and hey if you have younger relatives coming that could be a good distraction) (to me its still fucking insane that you have to pay sub to use online services for consoles like bro im paying the net already and that is what got me to never get one)

I don't know much about console prices, but if that's really the kind of profit that could be had, that would be a good reason.

A not-so-good reason is to spite Sony, because (very obviously) you have already given them your money. Simply don't purchase more Sony products, but keep in mind it would just be out of principle. It's ultimately not going to matter.

You may not get to play the white hot new releases from Sony or have to wait a while for some games to be ported but there are already so many games out there unless you're a rabid consumer you should be fine.

I haven't pirated a game since I was a teenager but every time I see the arguments online about steam DRM being as bad as consoles I can't help but think; if it ever got that bad I'd just go back to pirating lol

I know PC gaming is finicky as fuck and I do love the ease of use that comes with console...But this shit is getting ridiculous. I was gonna get a Steam Machine but I'm not paying 1500 dollars for the good version which should've been only about 750 at most with the cheapest version being 500 bucks since it's basically just a really weak PC. For 2 grand I can get me a nice one I think...IDK I don't know much about PC gaming besides it becoming obvious I need to become a PC gamer as the days go by.

So instead of some mildly inconveniencing cryptographic thing somewhere in the game's binary, just turn the entire game into dogshit, problem solved!!!
