excellently executed onimusha 3, I liked leon the nomap in it but it felt a bit awkward that he didn't seem like he was the fundamental character designed for the game especially with flying enemies. I'm gonna play dawn of dreams next because I'm definitely gonna get way of the sword. I originally only played the first game and played through it again and then 2 and 3.
I thought either 1 or 2 was the best so far, probably 1 because in 2 they decided the annoying flying blue orbs should be able to attack you. It also felt like Issen timings got worse as the games progress because in 2 there's one enemy with an Iai-style move that you Issen them before they attack when they sheath their blades. It's a really odd decision and makes sense but the game doesn't convey it well because every tutorial including player made ones will tell you hit the attack button right before the enemy hits no exceptions. I'm all for it but for a game where timing matters like that its a bit off putting especially since the audio cue from 1 was removed and the music gets louder so all you have to go off of is some so-so visuals. Also the camera angles in all 3 games are so egregious its insane sometimes. I'm glad that the new one is going for third person exclusively.
