Yeah, when you migrate your infrastructure over to new systems, you always make sure all that stuff associated with a product you haven't touched for 10 years gets migrated over. Nothing ever falls through the cracks! I definitely have never seen source code, client data, vendor records, or documentation just kind of disappear after a couple rounds of undisciplined migration.
Careful! You'll upset the naive toddler!

like nigger

There are companies right NOW running some critical piece of their stack, like "our business doesn't exist if this goes down," on some ancient Unix install running on an emulated Ultrasparc and they have no fucking idea where the source code went. The system that depends on it manages $150m of transactions every year. Their future roadmap consists entirely of "make sure the master copies for Solaris 2.2 never get lost, and if they do, don't tell me how you recovered the binaries."

True story. Friend of mine was involved in an office renovation a few years back, like late 2010s. They took down a wall and discovered an AS/400 machine, we're talking a server from the 1990s. It was running. It was plugged into the network. Nobody knew what the fuck it was doing. It had been walled off for years. Apparently some heroic IT forensics had to be done and it turned out, yes, it was an active part of the infrastructure.

But oh yeah, the source for some video game made in 2003 is right her on the corporate GitHub, sure.

Implying Serious Sam 4 was even good.
Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem (standalone SS4 mod devloped by another studio) was pretty good. Though I don't have high hopes for this new SS game as it seems like a cheap cashgrab. They just looked at top sellers, saw that roguelite "friendslop" is trending and copied it.

Been playing games like KeeperRL, Songs of Syx, TOME recently. Something about them is just nice to play vs all those 80 dollar “AAA” games. I guess it’s the choice you have doing your sim builder or playing a roguelike.
Odd Realm has been interesting as of late. They have 5 different races with vastly different playstyles. For example, you can play as a Lich species that can't reproduce but can summon demons instead. Another race only spawns new children when an adult explodes into 3-5 kids or whatever. It's an interesting take on things.

Wait, TOME? You mean TE4? Tales of Maj'Eyal? TOME 2 back in the day was fun, running around doing crazy stuff like an Alchemist making your own artifacts or a Thaumaturgist casting random magic -- like a wave that creates walls everywhere on the screen that you can see, or a laser beam that generates sonic booms, or a random assortment of plasma meteors.

The last few times I've tried Tales of Maj'Eyal (which admittedly has been quite some time ago) it had some of the crazy shit, like playing as a "Sophilist" which was some sort of weird reality warper class. I liked playing as the time mages or the paradox rangers that did shit like shoot monsters before they existed or let you summon your alternate timeline clone to help you finish off a boss.

I'm actually surprised we don't have more Angband players around the farms. It's autistic enough for all of us. My favorite as of late was... frogcomposband? I think? Playing as a sentient sword eating other swords to become a super sword, or a dragon with almost no armor slots but 6 ring slots. It's kinda sad watching the Angband variants slowly die out as the developers (who have to be Boomers and GenX) die from old age with no younger kids to replace them.

Dishonored and Metro are booth good games i tried barony (pirated it it was like 1gb) and it just wasnt for me.
I recently replayed Dishonored 1 and finally got around to playing 2. I was pleasantly surprised at how well 1 held up to memory. 2 was definitely weaker imo but still a pretty fun experience. I still have yet to play Death of the Outsider but I burnt my self out marathoning 1 and 2.

Death of the Outsider but I burnt my self out marathoning 1 and 2.
I would say to play it since according to steam it took me around 7h (while 1st game took me 11h i did replay it i think and 2nd game took me 16h also replayed it for a bit) i would say that it is like a dlc than a real game and i guess it has kinda cool mission where
you rob a bank by exploding the safe and it breaking into sewers or something
And if you dont feel like it you can also ignore it.

Reynatis was a wet fart. I'm fine with AA/budget games but this was just bad on all fronts. PS2 level graphics without any of the charm, a small lifeless world made worse by constant backtracking, a battle system where in order to attack anything you have to stand around waiting to be hit so you can do a QTE to regenerate MP every 30 seconds or so that doesn't change at all throughout the entire game.. the only thing that was close to being okay was the story premise and even that was held waaay back by stilted writing.

I figured I could tough it out but after running through the same linear hallway dungeon (like the actual same, not just similar) for the 3rd time in only chapter 7 of 34 I realized it wasn't going to change and decided to cut my losses. Life's too short.

Fucking hell that AS/400 is a beast of a machine, crazy to just walled it off for years.
