If anyone is holding off, now is the probably the last chance to get fast, boosted V8, twin turbo I6, or flat 6 while fuel remains relatively cheap and enjoy the pinnacle of internal combustion technology.
Last chance to get a big N/A V8 or 6 pot for sure. Everything is moving towards smaller engines with forced induction because of """emissions""", right. Even Ferraris are starting to get turbos now, it's quite pitiful.

In my experience I’d say it’s pretty safe to say the Lancer Evolution range of cars are some of the best consumer road/track cars ever developed, What do people here think about them?
Any car with 4 doors is gay. What I am, 30? :smug:

Euro coupes all look like ass. The only American car that even tries to resemble old muscle seems to be the Challenger.
I can accept there are homosexuals who don't like like 911's. But I don't believe you can look at an F12 or Vanquish and call it ugly.

Maybe you mean affordable big engine coupes? Like £10K ish?
I like the Jaguar XK (~2010), comes with 4.2 or 5L V8 and optional supercharger.

Although Jaguar is technically Indian now 💩

What about the Maserati 4200 (~2005), 4.2L Ferrari V8.

They kind of fall into the "if you can't afford to buy 2 then you can't afford to maintain 1" category though, being Italian and all.

Ok, how about a Mercedes SL (~2010). The smallest one is a 5L V8.

Swear on your eagles and big macs that that looks bad. I dare you.

Yeah, it looks like a curvy Euro coupe. Sorry, but no. It's why I think newer mustangs look bad.

Every step we depart from the 60s glory days is one more step in the wrong direction. They have no character to me.

Edit - the last one isn't too bad. They dared to give it some creases.

The 1st 2 are lame looking and basically the same car. It's what happens when you let the wind tunnel and computers dictate your design. You get jellybeans. The merc at least tries but it's still Meh. You have to go back to the 1980s to find a merc that actually looks a Mercedes. You also have to go back that far to find one they built well.

The 1990s is where Mercedes started to die.

Why does Doug Demuro get so much hate? I get he’s boring and bland, but really that much hate and dislikes for it?
I figure it's because he focuses more on the aesthetics and side features of the cars he reviews, rather than the actual mechanics.

But I didn't realize he gets hate. I thought he was more of a meme.

I mean, most of his popular videos have thousands of dislikes, which is high for any car person unless they were obviously payed off, like the Jay Lenos Garage episode about the Tata Nano, which is at a high dislike ratio for him

I used to like Mercedes as a kid, because they looked like if you stuck a prop, wings & iron crosses on them, they could've come from an alternate timeline where the Nazis won and made flying cars. Hell... even the hideous G-Class SUV looks like it was meant to invade Russia.

Imagine my utter disappoint when I learned they weren't designed with ex-Messerschmitt engines. That's how I decided I liked Jeeps better; sure they were slow, but at least the Jeep could mount a recoilless rifle.

The G-Classe used to be something like the Land Rover Defender, a very spartan, rugged vehicle for serious off-road driving - they even made the absolutely insane 4×4² edition which had portal gear axles more ground clearance and further reduced gear ratio, you don't put shit like that on regular cars. However, the G-Classe is extremely popular with the "usual crowd" - mobsters, noveau riche who just want another status symbol, oligarchs, people like that, and it spawned a billion retarded luxury and performance editions. It's important to have a theoretical top speed of 280 kph/170 mph even if you wouldn't ever want to approach it since the general configuration is completely unfit for such speeds.

IMO these days the coolest Benz is the Unimog, but that's a multi-purpose utility truck, something most people wouldn't drive.

The Regular Car Reviews guy and his potty humor shtick was funny at first but it soon got kinda dull for me. Throttle House on the other hand puts out real quality content
I only subscribe to RCR for RCR Stories. Those are excellent and very in-depth. His most recent one about AMC is worth the 2.5 hours of your time.

I really like RCR, but I can't stand the Roman. All of his content sounds like it was recorded under his bed so he doesn't wake up his parents, and I wish he would invest the $0.32 for some pantyhose so that he has a pop filter.

Any Cummins bros here? My cock shrunk 2 inches the minute I signed the check for mine. I don't regret and I actually ended up towing a lot of stuff with it lately. 6 speeds are so fun with those, and it's a piece of cake to work on.

Also did an engine swap in a CR-V last year, a golf cart engine swap, and a aircooled vw rebuild bringing it up from 1.6 L to a 1.9 bored.

Work gave me a gasser GMC 3/4 ton that I drive like a maniac since I don't pay for the work on it. Those LS2 motors are no joke

I was driving around a few days ago and to my pleasant surprise saw a clean, Jaguar XK8 X100 pre facelift convertible in the parking lot. Couldn't help but think how well the X100 has aged compared to its downs syndrome successor the X150. There's just something about those graceful curves and svelte body inspired from the original E-type reimagined in a more modern 90s/2000s Jag. Prices have also indicated these former junkyard clunkers are well near 10k or higher for clean examples.

LMFAO you people don't own a jaguar.

We have a car thread and I'm not trying to back seat mod... but I own an XKRS. THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. Pics in other thread.

Aside that I have a TR3a triumph, a 87 firebird 400 swap with oodles of gas, 91 civic with 193WHP swap 2l gsr motor.

The lower XKs are great cars and all but the higher end need such attention and upkeep.
