I can understand why he'd side with Russia but he's an absolute coward for flip-flopping. Basically it will take more time, EU lives, and money for Ukraine to reconquer Crimea plus all their lost lands than it'll take for Russia to annex Kharkiv Oblast and call it a day. So yes, for a Romanian who wants the war next door to just fucking end already, it's logical to pray for a swift Russian victory.

I doubt Russia has it in them to go beyond Kharkiv/Sumy, at least not without instituting a highly unpopular military draft that could result in Putin suffering Maduro's fate. Currently the Ruskies only wage war using a voluntary Roman-style mercenary system and their reserves. They could probably conscript an additional 8-10 million men if Putin wasn't scared shitless of being overthrown by angry cabbage farmers with AKs.
