Oh you mean the only fucking video game company that doesn't treat it's customers like shit and whose CEO isn't some fucking techbro/lefty loonie who wants to push an agenda or censor the storefront is well liked by gamers? OH GOLLY FUCKING GEE!

Also chill out you fat faggot retard.
Gabe is a tech bro and Steam has successfully killed the used market on PC, has restricted consumer rights with purchases and even restricts items on region. I have no idea how Valve got this rep, but man being the lone survivor of the digital store front has worked wonders.

Now granted the store is kind of uncensored (on a case by case basis), but then again id rather be able to pick up a game on DVD or Blu-ray then browse through the 1000 porn games released daily and games in EA that won't get finished and won't even work on the computer I bought it for once Valve cuts OS suppoet

Gabe is a tech bro
And?? Are you trying to tell me I should hate all tech bros? I'm not amish. If YOU are, get off the Internet.
successfully killed the used market on PC
I feel like this would of happened eventually. Not like Nintendo, sony, or Microsoft is keeping them much, and gta6 won't even have a real physical copy
restricted consumer rights with purchases
Elaborate. More importantly point to a better example.
even restricts items on region
Simply to not get banned. Ie I can't play some games in cucked Australia. If they didn't do this, steam wouldn't exist in Australia. Blame them.
I have no idea how Valve got this rep
Steam input , steam os, refund policy, remote play, steam link software, review's, curators, forums, community, guides, steam deck, steam controller, and a generally well managed storefront.
browse through the 1000 porn games
You can just disable seeing them, actually seeing them is disabled by default. You enabled finding porn games and are shocked to find porn games...

Elaborate. More importantly point to a better example.
This point i will elaborate on. In the TOS it specifically says that you do not own your games. Now I know that every company out there is trying to buttfuck us, but I for one do not appreciate the buttfucking attempt. Also the standardized patches which yes if you are hard-core enough and have the foresight you can rollback, like do I have to give examples of that? Sure I know I've probably even given the example in this thread but back when Valve themselves updated Source around 2010 ish to make the water prettier it broke all source games on my rig and others. And rolling back was impossible, unless I were to track down an obscure DRM free HL2 release from Europe.

Not to mention the Ban thing, which I have never been banned because I dont care about MP games, but even then again back in the day you weren't paying for the privilege to play a game you were buying a game to own. Hell even in the Arcade if I wanted to I could buy the cabinet and I owned that shit. Other ideas like the other companies would have done it, probably sure. But let me put a colorful example. Some near naked chick walks into a bar and gets raped, saying the other patrons would have raped her too isnt that great of a defense for the rapist

Hell and on the other points, I remember when Steam came out, shit was fucking broke. We only got it because we all wanted to play HL2, that is why we put up with it. Now it did get real good, hell from 2009 to 2012 I could concede your point. But it has gotten real shit, bloated, hard to find shit. Hell back in the day during a sale clicking on price ranges actually worked. Last time I looked for sale shit at 1.50 or free I was getting GTA and BF6 showing up for full price.

We only got it because we all wanted to play HL2, that is why we put up with it. Now it did get real good,
I remember when I brought HL2 home. And I only had Steam at one point for CS 1.6 to play at lan parties. Lost my login information so I was surprised that I needed a login to play a single player game.

It is a really cool little machine. After watching GN's teardown it is obviously well thought out. It is too weak but even that would be fine if the price was right. Valve just got fucked by the market conditions. Not much they could do other than cancel the project. Thankfully my PC will be good for many years.

Yeah, that's the annoying part. Sure, its hard to argue steam machine is worth it currently, but to frame it like they didn't give a fuck and are greedy instead of them getting fucked over is retarded. Reminds me a little of covid which outright executed some businesses. Not that valve is dying, fuck no, but this definitely hurt.

If I develop a game and decide to sell it both on Steam and on my own personal website I have to sell it for the same price I am selling it on Steam or risk being delisted. This means I can't give people a discount when they buy from my own store for example. The counterexamples are many and span multiple other industries.
If I buy a game on Steam I have no way of reselling it, even though it used to be the norm with physical media. No technical hurdles exist (the Steam Market infrastructure is already here and you used to be able to store unclaimed games in your Steam inventory) and in EU there are zero legal hurdles as well (EU lets you transfer a digital license to an another party and no EULA can void that right).
If some dev has a clitty leak then said dev can do whatever they want to your purchase and you have no recourse aside from getting a pirated version of the game. This happened with a game called Skullgirls where devs decided to suddenly censor a 10 year old game for no reason. Even GOG does it better because at least you can download the previous version.

Última edición:
Shame, i was looking forward to getting the steam box. Hell my budget was no more than 800. Seeing it cost over 1k and for what little value it offers, youre basically paying 1k for the convenience of having a "pc" on the go. Personally i wont be buying it.

Official unboxing & setup video was posted by Valve.

OK expert troon clockers I need an opinion.
The new Steam Machine intro video was just posted and something about the person unboxing the machine screams troon. Maybe it is the man shaped hands, maybe it is the subtle arm hair but I immediately subconsciously noticed something and I am wondering if anyone else picked up on that. I could be completely mistaken so I am calling in the experts. Watch the video.

The fact you believe the bullshit you spewed there just shows you’re a brainwashed faggot.

Gabe the Hutt isn’t your saviour and he isn’t trying to “save gaming” or whatever other messianic fantasies you faggots indulge in.

He only fights Microsoft because he wants to have the monopoly on PC gaming, and you fucking lemmings rush to give it to him.

PC gaming faggot race gets what they deserve.

"Obviously, if you just don't have the budget for it, you don't have the budget for any real gaming PC at that point."

Thats one of the dumbest things I've read in a while.

Incidentally one of my favourite cope comments about the steam machine is the "its the same price as an equivalent gaming PC right now". But when you look at what they class as equivalent they have something like a 9060xt and a mid range 7000 ryzen CPU in their part picker list.

And my immediate thought is "bro are you fucking high on crack?". There are actual fools out there comparing it to a PC you can get for the same money that would offer almost twice the performance and calling it equivalent and the steam box a good deal.

Its got reject laptop parts from 2023, the CPU can barely compete with a mid range second gen ryzen and the GPU is just about better than a 6600. The absolute chutzpah from valve to peddle this bullshit about it being competitive and a good deal is unreal.

To be clear, I really wanted it to be a success and at the right price even the hardware it has would be compelling but this is just insulting from valve.

there's unmistakable diamond pattern in the creases on the skin of the hands which is a dead giveaway of xy chromosomes

Its even funny when they go but its a little black box, most people want that under their tvs! In my modems maybe motherfucker i have side to side the ps5, the fat ps3, and the pc with the old xeon and the 5700. That shitty underpowered box aint shit

"OH MY GAWD, I CAN'T BELIEVE STEAM FANBOYS ARE JUSTIFYING THE PRICE!!!"

Literally the closest I've seen is people saying "well, that sucks that the recent AI boom caused them to jack the price up". It's summer in America. Go the fuck outside.

Please explain why making proton, and steam controller drivers open source assists in monopoly
troon clockers
This is a REALLY hard one, there's no clear angle showing ring vs index finger which is a good indicator. If it is a troon they have quite soft and youthful looking hands at least, or maybe that's post effects ... actually, the hand really does look... blurry and plastic like in that screen shot, so maybe they overdid it on a troon hand?? But it's too hard to say for sure. But I'm thinking 65% odds of troon

I'm convinced a lot of people are just doing this to shill for consoles which are stupid shit to even have these days, its really more of an economic trap like rent to own furniture, than legitimately good setups. Remove exclusivity and suddenly xbox and ps5 and Nintendo have 0 justification for even being produced.

I also think this because they shit generally on pc in the same breath, and cackle how we are abused sheep, as if we all purchased one. No, I imagine few did, but we also don't think this is some shit about valve being greedy.

And speaking of greed, if this was to make money, this is the most pants on head retarded way to make money when you own STEAM . If valve wanted more money they would raise the steam fee 2% and make a million times more

It's so underpowered that if you build around DDR4 that you may already have lying around or could even get for free from a friend you can make something both significantly cheaper and more powerful. Even if you must pigeonhole everything into the more expensive miniITX space.

Valve fanboys are massive parasocial faggots who think some fat fuck who got rich from being at Microsoft gives half a fart in their direction and cream their shorts at the thought.
Valve fanboy are basically the gaming version of Steve Jobs or Musk fanboys.
Still, Valve offer very good services but deny or justify their miss is absurd. More when we are on a website which we usually laugh at the people who act like that.

Its about application of it where its due.

Steam machine setup was unfortunate, but I do think had hardware crisis not hit, it could of been just fine. Same with steam deck price hike, they TRIED waiting for Lower component prices, which didn't come, so it was a choice between out of stock, or in stock but more expensive.

Likewise steam machine was a choice of completely canceling the project, or continue at a higher price rather than COMPLETELY wasting all the effort.

Its unfortunate , but people trying to paint it like its some lolcow stuff implicating its all stupidity of steam, suggesting they planned all of this is just silly.

Very few are defending the current price being GOOD, the difference is how you look at at the causation
