However, its assumption back then was that prices would fall - an "understanding born from the many years of data we all have about the evolution of PC hardware prices". People respect valve because they LARGELY give a shit about user experience, its literally why they have the "monopoly" because they have another dimension of customer experience and benefits to using steam, and much of it is free.
