can't wait for people to cut valve slack because they're valve while simutaniously still grilling every other corporation that did the same, including using the same excuses.
I mean they delayed price hikes while already selling at a "painful" price, upgrading models sold for free, and being sued by 2 different govt entities.

Price hike sucks but they were obviously trying to avoid that more than others..

I don't blame valve, blame data centers, they should be violently stripped for parts.

For what is worth the current state of the PC market makes me want to see Sam Altman and Jensen Huang cut and grilled """in Minecraft""".

On the lower end, the 512 GB OLED Steam Deck is going from $549 to $789. The Steam Deck with 1 TB of storage capacity will go from $649 to $949, Valve confirmed. The original 256 GB LED Steam Deck, which has been out of stock for months due to RAM shortages, is no longer listed as available for purchase.
That's too expensive for a platform with low specs. You might as well buy a Switch 2, or a ROG Ally.

At this rate the Steam Machine is going to cost a grand and a half.
see i had figured the whole shtick of the steam machine was to release it at a price competitive to other consoles in some weird form of gaming robbery but maybe there's a reason i'm not in the industry. fuck it man, make nothing affordable. that's where the money is.

Dude these prices are embarrassing, every shit company is in the barrel, and anything other than emulating the entire history of games, for free, is a waste of your shekels and absolute goycattle retardation. You likely have an okay to good PC already, invest in an XHD or two (which will still be vastly cheaper than any console) and thrive. Make these niggers eat your boogers.

The Steam Deck version that comes with 1TB is $50 cheaper than a PS5 Pro with all the piecemeal bullshit Sony did with it with twice the base storage to boot, oh and you still don't own your games on ethier platform unless you count the physical discs that are only used to put the game onto the SSD for the PS5.

Gabe really tried to outjew the big three console manufacturers in one move because if only there was a version where you had to bring your own storage :stress:

The irony is that the steam deck was championed as a good emulation handheld for the price point it was at. Gonna be a real hard sell now for those kind of people over a normal PC.

The LCD model stopped being made when the OLED model was introduced, they just ran out of the old LCD models they had in stock. That's the long and short of it. The real consequences of the RAM shortages will be seen once the OLED model gets a price hike next year, it will be inevitable as Valve is not going to sell newly manufactured Steam Decks OLEDs at a loss.
Well well well

I wish the entire gaming industry would die. DIE VALVE, DIE!
