Uzumaki - Could this be the first good Junji Ito adaptation?

Do you think it was producer or director stupidity that made the decision to adapt every goddamn story in the manga? Like, the point of this show shouldn't be to cram as much of the stuff people remember into it, it should be to act as an advertisement for the source material by animating the best stories. Rip out all the superfluous stuff and just adapt the chapters that get reincorporated into later stories - the first three chapters, the snails, the twisted lovers, and the storm. Then do the last few non-Galaxy chapters in a row.
I feel like its the producer since they have more say on what to do. Not to mention the director of the show keeps changing per episode because of how this show got outsourced to China.

Like if you're going to adapt every story, at least give a longer episode count, there was no need to adapt the Jack in the Box kid if all that pays off is him suddenly appearing after the first storm chapter.

Wildly inconsistent animation in the last episode. Writing for it was OK. There's a new post credits scene not in the manga if you missed it.

The PNG fall was ridiculous for such a pivotal scene

That's so bad it's actually funny, it really feels like they gave up here and couldn't be bothered anymore. I feel like any kiwi here could make a better animation, and I mean that sincerely.

I didn't bother watching episode 3 or 4 after how bad 2 was, and it looks like I made the right decision.

she's really fucking cute.
Is she?

All women in Ito's comics look the same.

Not only did they shit on this story from an artistic perspective but also a narrative one.

This completely fucks with the ending of the original because it takes away the tragic implications in which both Kyrie and Shuichi are cursed to stay still for eternity.

They should have done one last edit to have a screenshot of demarco's tweet fade into the screen as they fall
Oh right, that reminds me: Defaggit had another bitchfit and deleted his Twitter again because they said "blocked accounts will soon be able to see your tweets". I give him until the end of the year before the account gets reactivated.

DeMarco is funny since he said someone is to blame for the Uzumaki adaptation being a shitshow yet won't name names, and its because everything really points to him given his track record of producing slop from Japan.

He should've just shown only the first episode to save him and the people behind those last three episodes the embarrassment, hell if anything if he released the first episode, it could've probably led to a proper adaptation being financed that people see a quality product.

Between the Rick & Morty anime being a failure and Uzumaki's failings, I don't know who'd be bright enough to do business with him.

How do you make an adaptation so bad that a decent adaptation from the 2000s (the live action Uzumaki films) be the definitive adaptation.

I will admit I didn't even watch the last episode because why bother wasting my time watching garbage animation for a story that is very visual-heavy

I wonder if we should transition this thread to bitching about Toonami fulltime or merge it with the Adult Swim Griefing thread. Christ I wish I could quit Toonami.

I wish more people would've harped on the show more for its shitty pacing due to taking stories out of chronological order and smushing stories together in that blind attempt to be "coherent". Like holy shit why the fuck wouldn't you keep in Shuuichi's parents going mad in the first episode and actually show his mother literally spiraling out of control after stabbing out her cochlea? Instead they wait until episode three to show that and even then they had to cut back-and-forth between the mosquito women and the mother having her fits at some separate ward. Absolute heresy.

DeMarco should never fund another anime ever again. Full stop. Or at least take the hint that someone at Production I.G. just doesn't like him. [as] has a terrible track record and I don't get why no one's putting their foot down.

Just finished the last episode. Spiral? More like Full Circle. Circle from all the corners that were cut. Seriously, what happened? The first episode was really good, but then it just kept getting worse. It's like the horse drawing meme.
