one of the ballot measures i'm very interested this cycle is the Nebraska abortion ballots. there are two of them

one enshrines the current 12 week limit

one expands the limit to be 24 weeks

voters are going to be voting on both measures simultaneously, and the one that gets the higher % of yes will win. this is the first time that previous abortion polling will be put to the test -- did Americans really mean it when they say they're overwhelmingly only in favor of abortion in the first trimester? or is this going to be an Assault Weapon Ban scenario where, now that some rights have been taken away, people will get oppositional and vote for less restrictions than they would have before?

if the 24 week measure wins then repealing Roe v Wade could actually lead to abortion access being even more open than it was before Roe v Wade in another decade or two, leading to the religious right playing themselves

If Harris wins it will because enough woman are pissed off that Roe was overturned. That issue alone will make or break this election.

Something I really hate is how people refuse to vote but then do nothing else to change the country. That’s my big problem. But yeah I do agree that voting is rigged to hell, but I still vote because I lose nothing except 30 minutes of my time when I go to vote. As I said, best to try even if it’s hopeless.

The thing I also didn't mention is that, you can't rig an election when everyone hates you. I mean you CAN, but it will immediately end in revolt. I did not think Kamala was that candidate, but it appears that Kamala IS that candidate. She's just that terrible. I can't rationally justify anyone willingly voting for this woman outside of the most insane of the insane. She's just that bad. Voting is a pressure relief gauge. The Uniparty is getting told today to fuck off. Whether they listen or not, is up in the air.

Trumpers really hate Desantis so I doubt it.

DeSantis did all the things MAGA wants, but at a state level. Arguably he accomplished more than Trump did in that agenda list. His crime wasn't policy, it was just running against Trump.

As long as he doesn't keep badmouthing Trump I can easily see DeSantis doing a reconciliation and endorsement in 4 years, just like Vance did. But then the problem will be Vance himself, who was arguably the best campaigner of this cycle. Vance wins vs a DeSantis matchup, he'd have to bow out and endorse DeSantis to give him any kind of chance. I don't see that happening, Vance seems very ambitious and sure of himself.

DeSantis could've been the heir, but the NeverTrumpers convinced him to try a Starscream run. Even I, in this same thread, thought Trump should've passed the torch at one point.

The thing is A&H isn't a total circlejerk. This thread is much more moderate than the rest of A&H simply because it broadly believes that voting actually works and it isn't too keen on the Jew-sperging, among other things. You'll still have people saying nigger here, but that doesn't mean that they're all accelerationist Esoteric Hyperborean fascists who think voting is a waste of time.

That’s what happens in every executive position. You aren’t writing things yourself if you’re on top, and I can only imagine the kind of bullshit you have to do when you’re in the government of all places.

If you really want a look at what someone who does nothing, didn’t really want to be president and delegates it all to someone else, look at our current sitting president. By comparison it’s clear Trump made efforts domestically and abroad, but was hampered by an inexperience of the realities of a day-today government official.

Vivek is probably the only one from the GOP primaries that's going to come out of it unscathed.

DeSantis is a Paul Ryan disciple who started aping Trump after his sensei Ryan fell to the sword. He's not a leader, he's not principled, and he'll never win a presidential election. The fact that he ran against Trump, wasting a bunch of NeverTrumper money that could have otherwise been put to harmful purpose, is one of the few things that recommend him.
