I've been quietly watching ChatGPT for bias because they've never been mentioned with the various election bias scandals this year. Mostly, it just isn't. However, when I tested a subject related to the election today it went browsing unprompted, linked me MSM articles, and shared what they said with little to no input. Even when I refreshed it multiple times, the response remained word for word. If you gaslight it into not using the function then it reacts normally. This will happen with each model that can search the internet.
I guess the reason it was unbiased all year is because OAI was failing at programming, and not because they weren't trying. It isn't baked in bias like Alexa/Siri, but if all it says is what the MSM says, it'll have the same effect. It's especially noteworthy because I only noticed it with my election test. There are probably other subjects with wrong think that triggers this, but it's definitely not just them overtuning the 'fetch from the internet' function.

I'm in the cable management stage of building a new work PC for my mom, and I put the J.D. Vance episode of JRE for background listening but I had to stop because I was laughing too much. By which I mean I stopped working on the PC. I'll go back to it after I finish the podcast. The past 24 hours have been an absolute banquet.
