Everyone fucking knows that every one of those audience members was pre-screened for party loyalty, so what this actually means is that 40% of her likely supporters felt that they had not earned her vote.

Reagan was a very mixed bag of a president, and I think it's a worthy discussion about his policies and their impact. You can look at him like Nixon in many ways, Nixon opened up china to the west and that's a bad idea from the prism of 50 years later, but I think he meant to get more consumers for the US economy tbh. We can look at the lasting effects of a policy like the amnesty stuff changing the demographics and ALSO keep in mind he was tricked into it being a door of immigration closing. It doesn't absolve him at all, but it explains it some. The gun control bill was shitty too, but dude in his admin got crippled and he nearly died. Sure it was stupid, but gotta give him a bit of leeway looking that context. All that said, at a certain point it sort of derails a current politics thread. We have to understand his influence on what's going on now though.

The sad thing, is that "mixed bag" or not, (I would also agree mixed bag), he's still the second best president of my lifetime. (Won't admit my age on here, but he was president when I was born.)

Okay jokes aside there is some information with texas, Ken Paxton allegedly going after Act-blue donations. I feel like while everyone is coping the Act blue scandal seems big. Allegedly foreign actors and dark money are using Act blue to go around campaign finance laws.
Worst of all this could end up backfiring on the dnc because there might actually be some major violations.

While thats true i think its a bit of a different cause and effect. because the economy is in the toilet people are more willing to lash out at luxury beliefs, like the gay rights movement thrived in the shithole of the 1970s economy, but enough "silent majority" conservatives were emboldened by the Reagan win to stuff the fags back in the closet. People forget they were already talking about gay marriage in the last years of carter's presidency. anything set in the future just took it as something that would become a social norm, they already had plenty of openly gay elected city representatives. Luxury beliefs were mostly mocked in the 1980s despite the economy being in the opposite of the toilet while luxury beliefs were all over the post-watergate 1970s to the point where the media was successfully able to "cancel" any openly homophobic people. We had double digit inflation and the media cared more about Anita Bryant than the fact that the city she lived in became the murder capital of the US because of illegal immigrants.

The work of Rufo and other people and especially social media easing up on censoring thanks to musk buying X and tiktok not being run by jews meant the words that worked in 2020 now have become jokes. if Biden pulled what Kamala just did everyone would believe him. no one would be able to openly disagree.

It's not even about Trump, or partisanship. If Trump loses, legitly or not, it will give this Potemkin regime built on self-evident bullshit all it needs to claim its right to rule forever, with nobody to say otherwise.
