It worked in making DeSantis believe their lies, as he was obviously setting up a run and Trump called him out on it.
Vance is smart enough to know let the man get his deserved redemption, and carry the torch.
Supposedly Vance practiced for this debate with Tom Emmer imitating Walz, and Vance's wife was also helping Emmer know which buttons to press, which is probably where that Jim Halpert 4th wall eye shuffle came from, like he was going "holy shit Tom, he did the thing you did in practice"

Liked Vance since day one and he did great, and I get the feeling he's moderating himself for Trump's sake, but I hope he gets MEAN come January. Go full neoreactionary, start punishing your enemies, enough of this bipartisan bullshit, that died during Obama's presidency.

Vance is very very good.
I gotta be honest too, Walz can't beat himself up too badly, he got dogwalked by the absolute best. Not many could stand toe to toe with Vance like that.

It would be glorious if it happened.
It just won't, unfortunately. Switching running mates in the final stretch of the campaign is them basically handing over the Presidency to Trump and also possibly the down ballot. It would absolutely depress and deflate the Dem voters from voting at all, one would think.
