Native Californian, Los Angeles and San Francisco are the only reasons why the state is blue. In fact, I see people with Trump flags all over town where I’m from.
California is also why Gavin Newsom will never win the presidency. The French Laundry debacle alone killed his career until Biden pulled the emergency “we can’t let Larry Elder be governor” speech, but his consistent failure as governor is something many people in the state acknowledge and hate. I don’t believe the state is a total lost cause, but it hasn’t done red since Reagan, so it would take something massive to bring it back

Yep. There's a LOT of Red in California. It should be split into separate states tbh. There is very little that unites Slab City with San Francisco outside a vague notion of "Hippies". But in my experience, rural californians are completely alien to urban.

I've heard the concept of a state of "Jefferson" be proposed a number of times, comprising of Northern California and Eastern Oregon; but it'd never be ratified because blue states don't want to take the losses in the electoral college, house, and senate that a new state that isn't 100% hard locked blue might inflict.

As for Newsom, the idea for him running for President (and waiting until 2028 to run) is that A. He's young B. he's attractive to wine aunts and C. He's got four years to bury his skeletons and basically rebrand himself and make people forget how much of an even worse burning dumpster fire he turned California into during his time as Governor.

Why would Newsom sacrifice his career to save the party right now? Anyone who replaces Biden WILL lose. Guaranteed. And will be forever tainted with the stench of that loss unless they're phenomenally charismatic. Newsom is attractive to wine aunts, but not charismatic.

A lot of California fucking hates the big cities and the filth they bring with them. Nobody complains about Commiefornia more than people in Commiefornia trapped in the asylum with the inmates. I hate the fact I will probably never get to go back to the state that I grew up in because it's run by lunatics. I have so many fond memories of the place and it's all been burned to dust

I'm wondering how much truth there is to Trump accusing Bukele of sending murderers to the US, that seems plausible but unlikely considering the massive prison complexes they built. That being said, prisons are expensive and they do have a death penalty but not sure how it works.
Seems like unwarranted friendly fire especially with other countries like Mexico or Columbia being there to attack.

I always like to link this video about the California that Was. This is in Oakland, 1977. Postwar CA was truly an amazing place for about 40 or so years.
