You're 100% correct. If kids learned just how fucking awesome the founding of our nation was and the blood and guts spilled for us to be here I'd like to think they'd be a bit more appreciative. I always loved history anyway but it pissed me off how school even in the pre-woke 90s was just bullshit. I found it infinitely cooler learning that vikings tried settling North America and got ran off by angry natives than hearing that bullshit about Columbus discovering America and then the pilgrims and everyone sitting down for Thanksgiving.
