I read the report that Anthropic put out and what happened was that Claude operated within its own parameters, assuming it was working in a curated test environment. However, the third parties involved in the test did not secure its own networks sufficiently and Claude assumed everything was part of the test. These companies had unathenticated endpoints and a bunch of "123456" passwords that Claude easily bypassed. This is less of a Skynet story and more of a "secure your fucking networks, you dumbasses" story.

Yeah, just got done reading it. I guess I'm a little too trigger happy when it comes to Anthropic and OpenAI after all their antics as of late (and the fact I have to continue enriching them in my job). And the media puff pieces which are probably not even associated with the two companies and only trying to get clicks aren't helping matters. I'll update my OP.

One thing I did find funny is that the blog post is obviously written by Claude, and it made me realize Null's favorite AI doesn't capitalize the "I" in Internet. Maybe it does it you do it in your chats with it, but it defaults to lowercase.

I was watching this, and one of the things that occurred to me is the doublethink that leftists have about Africa, and really pretty much every other 3rd world shithole. Germs and steel type shit.

Somehow, Africa and other places don't have territory that's amenable to moving goods around and this is one of the main reasons why they're poor. The waterways aren't navigable, you can't create port cities, etc. etc. America though has tons of waterways and that makes it inexpensive to move goods so that's why we're one of the powerhouses (seen this argument like a hundred times from people like Peter Zeihan).

The doublethink is that somehow this is true but the West still managed to pillage and extract trillions of dollars of shit from these places, where, apparently, you can't get shit out of them and move it around.

The truth is that everyone else is just niggers and anyone isn't a fucking retard figures out how to move shit around, including digging entire canals between continents.

If you speak to actual Africans, the dirty secret is that they wanted colonialism to go on for around 50 more years. why? Because then roads and railways would have been built for secondary industry. This would mean that the infrastructure to build a proper nation would exist for AFTER decolonization, and the blacks would have had some experience in local governance (this is why ex-British colonies aren't as fucked compared to the other ones). But what makes Africa poor overall is the corruption. If Africa didn't have corruption (or at least to the extent it has now) it would be the third major power region after China.
