Trump is just gonna have to deal with it. People elected Trump to turn around the economy and bring down inflation. Its worse now. Voters aren't receptive to anything besides that because they have the planning capacity of one month max.
Its not going to affect the 2026 midterms anyway. They don't give a fuck about what happened in 2020 because they're focused on how to make ends meet today.
The SAVE act is important, but don't expect any support for it while the cost of living crisis persists. He has the right message, but its the wrong time to get anyone to listen.
Inflation has largely been curbed but you cannot just
undo four years of explosive inflation.
You can look at the largest drivers of food inflation and the sources are obvious:
Eggs and chicken - The decision to cull massive numbers of chickens to fight the avian flu caused a shortage of supply. Whether that was the right call I do not know. I really do not have the time or desire to deep dive something that ultimately does not matter it happened but recovery is happening now.
Beef - There are several reasons for the price of beef exploding. The USDA stopped allowing Mexican cattle in because of screw worms. That took over a million cows out of the equation. That one was a no brainer. Then you have other factors like droughts and boomer ranchers cashing out by selling their farms to developers(who end up building warehouses and
low income housing) rather than pass on the farm assuming they had anyone wiling to take on the risk of running a ranch in today's climate(not ecological as much as regulator and tax).
All reasons aside we have the lowest cattle supply recorded since the 50's.
Kind of hard to just fix that given that even if you dumped shitloads of subsidies in it would still take a chunk of time to build stocks back up.
Yes tariffs have increased the price of some goods but unless I am misremembering those are not primary drivers. Also Chinese purchase of certain land may be increasing it and large purchases by a certain Epstein enthusiast have not helped.
So moving to another source of the cost of living crisis: Housing. I have said and firmly believe that the biggest driver in housing affordability is the invasion of the US facilitated by RINOs and Democrats and subsidized by tax payers.
There are other factors though and looking at 2020 I think we know a big one. Prolonged lockdowns in blue cities and states caused a rush out of those cities and into surrounding areas and
more favorable states. The median home price went from $329k(pretty high) to 480k in 2022. That has backed down to 403k but things like a freeze on mortgage rates have kept those prices high.
Why does this matter? Well if you bought a house at 4% or lower you are not likely to sell now that prices have cooled down and interest is higher. This causes a lack of supply. Previously supply may have been bolstered by new home construction but that is lower. This again is the result of many factors including regulation and material costs and that same interest rate freeze. Developers are not going to build housing that costs more with interest rates so high.
You also had corporations and investors buying single family homes which further depleted stock.
The rental supply is where I believe the most damage is done by illegals and other invaders. Section 8 is not just extended to poor Americans but to
asylum seekers and
refugees. It is also extremely likely that illegals benefit from Section 8. Outside of Section 8 there is federal and state funding for landlords to accept
legal asylum seekers and refugees. There is also direct cash assistance for the invaders.
Specifically for illegals: landlords look the other way while five to ten of them occupy a two bedroom unit or worse are afraid to deny them a lease because they will be legally persecuted for obeying immigration law. This puts your average American at a tremendous disadvantage for rental units. A unit that even pre-Biden was high is now out of reach for people with a single income of 70k in many places.
Finally and the most directly impacted by Trump's recent actions is energy. While gas is currently lower than Biden's peak it is still high and that is bad but the truth behind overall energy prices is ignored in favor of blaming bombing Iran and evil Orange Man.
States like New Jersey have dismantled their energy production over the last decade in favor of importing energy from neighboring states. This causes much higher prices. There is almost nothing Trump can do about that problem in fact I cannot think of anything he could do outside of nationalizing energy(which I believe is the plan long term by those dismantling energy creation).
The illegal and invader problem is seen here again. You have more people consuming energy. States have answered this with a collective shrug or worse limiting generation.
Are there things Trump could do? Sure and he has done some things. Trump has attempted to make permitting easier and therefore cheaper. Trump's HUD has been instructed to limit corporate housing buyouts and banning institutional investors from buying single family homes.
Have these worked? Hard to say. Will they work? Probably some but I am not clairvoyant. What has happened is the "Road to Housing Act" which went into law on July 11th did cause large investors to increase sales of homes and slowed their buying of such homes.
Trump has also been deporting a lot of illegals and stopped illegals from coming in.
Has this worked? Maybe? Rental prices have seen declines but to credit this as a win for Trump is premature.
Summation of this spergout:
Trump has tried to do things but even if they provide positive indicators or do some good they are not reported or media outlets lie and claim they are all negative and evil.
A final thought regarding The SAVE Act: If no way to pass it is found even the Postmaster General cannot stop democrat cheating. If that cannot be stopped
Trump's bad economy will be a dream compared to what is created by the communists and muslims that take control.
AI did not write this slop. This is pure Crumbs slop.
