I work with mutual funds and it is quite rare that I speak with anyone under 50 on a weekly basis.

Yes a lot of that is certainly due to younger Americans not having any shekels to invest but a lot of people especially younger Americans seem to think that any money that isn't in their checking accounts and can immediately spend on streaming services and Doordash doesn't exist.

Until recently I didn't have a 401k. Now i have to actually worry about that stuff. Its a change, ill say that much.
 

An explosion and fire were outside the 26 Federal Plaza building in Manhattan, which houses offices of the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and US immigration agencies.

Footage shows the aftermath of the incident and the apprehension of a suspect. Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the explosion or the suspect.

The dollar is representative of a share in the US economy.

When it used to be “backed” by gold, it was more “pegged” by gold, in today’s vernacular. Like, the exchange rate with gold was just a tool in the toolbox to make it difficult to inflate, because if you inflated it then you might have to give people your gold

But what it’s actually BACKED by is the sum total of American gdp.

If we don’t manufacture, mine, harvest resources, etc, then the dollar represents a lot of abstract bullshit like amortization and other usuries

I often get shit on for this.

The point of having super delegates is to prevent this, as in when the party is selecting its candidate and it turns into a popularity contest, purity spiral, theatre kids something. Having a mechanism to regien in the more extreme characters and acknowledge you have to appeal to more than just your base to win, is a rather good idea, only it never seems to work for them.

To be fair it was deeply unpopular when they used the superdelegates system to choose Killary Klinton instead of Bernie Stalin as the presidential candidate in 2016 and that has been pointed to as the reason why they lost to Trump that year.

Because it's anti-democratic, funnily enough. People should have the right to pick whatever nutjob they want. If that nutjob can't win the general election because they're not palatable to a broad cross-section of voters, then that's their fault. Repeated election defeats should be the mechanism for not picking nutjobs, not some unelected body of corporate lobbyists putting their thumbs on the scale
