It's not merging or combining in the way that alarmist leftists are saying, They are wording it as if the two militaries are going to become one force or something but as far as I know it was just some deal about sharing technology and knowledge which we already do anyway.
More broadly, it just gives Israel a similar status as a NATO member with respect to the US Defense industry, without actually having to be a NATO member. Now, we can argue on the point as to whether or not Israel SHOULD have that status, but the more nuanced debate is lost in the shrieks about how the USA is handing over control of its military to DA JOOS. Which makes any reasoned discussion on the matter impossible.
