Funnily enough, I just found out Zastava is supposed to be dropping a .300 Blk AK pistol by the end of the year, which will probably be an instant buy for me. The only other AK manufacturer I know of with a Blackout pistol is fucking PSA so this is pretty big at least for AK spergs, who have all accepted that the Eternal Hohol SMO will keep slowly driving up prices for Russian cartridges until they all become unobtanium. Not to mention the fact that .300 Blk is just 7.62x39 but better (in modern applications (i.e. suppressed pistols and SBRs chambered in an intermediate cartridge)), especially now that there isn't much of a price advantage.

There have been advances in tech for guns since the AR hit the market in the 50s. The problem is people keep trying to reinvent the wheel and don't understand why the AR-15/M16 was built the way it was. I accept the M4 as probably the best compromise on the design, and even then, you still lose some velocity and get some extra recoil due to the carbine length gas tube, but it's not nuts. The shit they want to do with the M7/M8 though is because Milley wanted a gun to pierce chink body armor in a 7mm round.
