if you want to give money directly to a farmer you pay for a share of a live animal that a farmer by you is raising. because it’s “your” animal it’s technically not commercial sale and the farmer can use whatever slaughterhouse they want. the farmer gets all the money and you get all the meat with minimal processing and storage fees

I don't think that's the case here. Like I said there's a lot of reading and research on the family of tryzine herbicides, almost 60 years worth. It an organic compound and anyone can make it but it's mostly effective on Corn, Soybeans and Sugarcane and increased yields by 20%. To the US the small price of potentially damaging local wildlife who get sprayed is nothing compared to the profit of 20% more metric tons of corn. In Europe where they don't grow as much of that stuff, or rely on it, they don't want to take the risk. Also their farms are much closer to their towns compared to ours. So I think it's more of a neutral thing. They don't need it so they justify it as not "wanting" it. Alternatively we do need it so we also justify using it. I don't think it's that toxic, but it can hurt stuff if the farmers and golf courses don't follow regulations. Untimely it's a issue that should be left to science, not politics and definitely not the SOYANCE.
