Unfortunately during his first administration he was deciding his judicial nominees via the Federalist Society. If 2nd term Trump was in 1st Trump's position, he would've picked better people, especially ACB, but given the timing he knew he had to pick a woman to even have a chance at the nomination going through. But he definitely could've picked someone better than her.

Gorsich is a legitimately good Justice who fails to see what time it is on occasions. Even when I dislike his decisions his argument is pretty solid. Barrett not so much. I like her more than roberts in many regards but am thoroughly underwhelmed in most circumstances. I dont think we should ever consider nominated female justices at this point. Women simply arent built to have the final say in difficult decisions and are not tactical. There's alot of value in having the queen providing perspective to the king, but theres a reason they never had the final say.
