Yeah but that’s just the thing; if the Sheriff knew the staff were forging what are considered legal documents (and we’re not talking about fudging 15 to 30 minutes here) then she is absolutely accountable.

Story time: like most correctional settings I worked in a severely understaffed facility. When I worked the lock up unit most times there would be one officer in the control room and one working the floor. By policy you’re supposed to conduct cell checks (actually looking in and observing the inmate and recording it on a sheet of paper hung next to the door [they eventually moved to a system with a scanner and QR codes later because it’s really easy to forge the papers by the way]) every 30 minutes. Twice an hour. 96 cells (2 were dedicated suicide watch cells where those inmates were supposed to be watched and recorded every 15 minutes). I was also supposed to pass around a phone until 11pm at night and serve papers and then around 5 am feed all the fuckers before shift change at 7am. It’s physically impossible to be everywhere at once.

I was smart (unlike these ‘boons) and at the start of my shift I’d submit an incident report to my captain that would simply say there is no way I could work the unit as policy dictates. Every day I’d do it like a ritual.

One morning an inmate woke up dead as we say (hung himself). Man covered the window and I last spoke to him in the early AM. When the state came to investigate I straight up told them it wasn’t on me, I’m but one man and I pointed them to my years long paper trail and they promptly disappeared. So did the lawsuits the family tried to throw at me.

What I’m saying there is that if these people didn’t want to appear like they were apart of a conspiracy they simply could’ve documented what was going on. They didn’t and now it looks like they all knew what was going on.
