I get what you’re saying but this is a weird analogy. Xi is not an elected representative but a tyrant who weaseled his way to the top. I would not be surprised if he is liked by even 10% of the country. Most people in China are completely politically ambivalent. They don’t think about politics at all (for their own good).

These are all fair points. My argument was simply that I don't think it's wise to wish death upon the leaders of major countries because the fallout would be disastrous. A pro-liberal democracy Chinese person assassinating Xi Xinping would not help the cause of promoting liberal democracy in China. It would have the opposite effect. Similarly, an anti-Trump American assassinating Trump would not undo Trumpism. It would extend it.

All anti-Trump people had to do after 2020 was leave Trump and his associates alone. Instead, they prosecuted everyone they could and kept talking about Trump, his associates, and his supporters. They debanked Barron Trump, for fuck's sake. They didn't have to do any of that, but they did, and it galvanized Trump, his associates, and his supporters. I would not be surprised if a major motivation for Trump in 2024 was the notion that, if he didn't win, he and his family would be prosecuted until they all died off. Going after Barron like that was the signal that no one with the Trump name was safe.
