The mountains? Really? Look I can't speak for the other states but the cost of oil in California is a product of policy.

The reason gas is expensive here is because Newsom thinks the way to lower oil cost is a tax, rather than pumping more oil, and he would rather sabotage the nation during armed conflict, than see his own people in California have any comfort or satisfaction at all.

Regardless of what happens with the economy you should expect every major corporation and the financial services giants that own them to do everything they can to downsize to a 1:1 parity of human to AI agent. Things are going to get real uncomfy for comfortable people in corporate America (but the good news is that it will also empower the individual outside of corporate America)
