Im not saying you are stating this, but most people dont understand the Three Fifths Compromise was not thought up by the South, it was specifically put forward by the non slave states to lower the representative power of the slave holding states. So yes it most certainly hurt the South.

Its always that stupid statement "They considered us 3/5 of a person", it had nothing to do with white supremacy it was strictly to limit the congressional representation of the slave states (by in large southern states).

What makes niche products expensive isn't production cost, it's R&D. Computers that are designed from the ground up for very tiny niche markets are to this day fantastically expensive because engineers don't work cheap, and when you sell 500 units a year, you don't recoup that R&D budget unless you sell each machine for $1m. Same reason engineering software can cost as much as $50K per user. There just aren't that many users. Better tech doesn't bring the price down because better tech doesn't introduce millions of new users to the ecosystem.

You cannot claim that with certainty because if you look at any other industry's technological sector that is comparable to medicine, we do see costs decrease when technology, specifically the tool and dye and manufacturing of it, have sufficiently advanced, and the R&D is however many years in the rear view. It is only medicine and similarly protected industries that function like rackets because they have to integrate pseudo-social programs or whatever other state prerogative (i'm sure you can find examples of intervention in agriculture that are comparable); this prevents that change in the market from ever occurring.

Look the simple fact is this: any of kind of single payer system, national healthcare system, or any other similar arrangement that takes money out of the hands of private industry, in the context of medicine is a very real threat ot the progress of medical advancement worldwide, and personally I care more about the advancement of that technology and people getting better from ailments, than I do about their medical bills that don't even impact their credit score. I don't give a fuck about your wallet. I want you to not die from cancer.

Also, all the money in the world is against you. You will never win this one. Move on and learn to operate within the system. Until there's global collapse, we cannot entertain another path forward. And every attempt to fix it so far, has done nothing but raise premiums and make healthcare worse. If you want free healthcare so bad, move to a country that has it.

I'm not sure Russia has the full competency available to leverage that kind of coordinated firepower. They haven't even been able to take Ukraine and have put how many through the meat grinder? I'm quite sure Putin has reserves and then some left. He'd be a fool to throw his full force into the wood chipper like that, but still.

Yet it backfired so fucking spectacularly because ICE's agents are a bunch of untrained, bloodthirsty crayon-eating thugs. All those billions of dollars the Right wing invested in taking over social media, all for naught.

With that in mind, it makes the decades after the Three Fifths Compromise even more critical.

Going by the changes to the electoral college votes from the birth of the United States to the start of the American Civil War, one can see the national political power and its gradual decline amongst the Southern states compared to the ascendancy of their Northern counterparts.

Been out of the loop for a bit; can you elaborate? "Unemployed"? "Previous encounters with ICE"? I'm liking the sound of this so far.

The usual bad actors have really been throwing their backs out, trying to make a proper martyr of this guy; a day or two ago, even the BBC's main page was literally 90% Pretti propaganda headlines.
