Given what we've seen so far, what if releasing the files was never about releasing them at all but when to release them?

If Trump releases them right after inauguration there is next to no benefit other than fulfilling a campaign promise and the small implications we've seen so far.

If Trump releases later into his presidency say, around the 2026 mid-terms or even going into whoever's 2028 Presidential run there's reputational damage to throw onto sitting Democratic representatives or Presidential candidates whenever you deem fit.

If Democrats push to release them quick into the Trump presidency when he has chosen not to then they (with the help of rogue republicans) can force the files out into the news cycle in that timeframe where it's likely to be forgotten about by the time a major election cycle rolls around.

It makes sense to me that if Trump could push them out whenever he wanted, you'd want them out long before any political campaigns have gone into full swing especially if Trump's name in them isn't that bad.

Granted we'll have to see more but if it's Hakeem Jeffries being brought up before anyone else, it can't be that crazy right?

Mike Johnson does not inspire confidence though, every speech he makes seems like it's trying to hide something.

I’m a little concerned that guilt ridden Baby Boomer parents could end up putting their retirement lifestyles at risk, by digging a little too deep.

personally I don't think you owe your kids any sort of inheritance.

You shouldn't feel obliged to pass on money before you die - especially if it affects your retirement life.

So don't compromise your retirement and your life just because your kids are putting pressure on you to help them build their own! You have got to let them work it out.
