I'm going to blame FDR's Stalin worship even though that bastard cripple had been dead for a bit when the USSR left an army group's worth of equipment in Manchuria while giving the territory to the CCP, and dead half a decade before the commie chinks made their big move in 1949.
How the Americans went about their involvement in China during & immediately after WW2 under both FDR & Truman was a clusterfuck which brought some good (Chennault's Flying Tigers, for example) with a lot of bad (Joseph Stilwell, the Marshall Mission, etc.). Now some factors were out of their control (like Japan shredding China's forward positions with Operation Ichigo, then American supplies & training starting to actually successfully rebuild the Chinese army in preparation for a huge counteroffensive which could've served to rebuild KMT morale & credibility only for the war to end) so nobody involved could really be blamed for that.
However, what & who can be blamed were people like Stilwell & Marshall.
'Vinegar Joe' Stilwell, the original top-level American advisor to China, was a retarded nigger who thought he was way smarter than he actually was, antagonized Chiang Kai-shek & tried to boss him around, casually threw away the lives of not just the Chinese whose units were unlucky enough to be under his influence but also American & British commandos in the Burma theater, was a commie fanboy like way too many other people in FDR's circles & FDR himself (he particularly fanboi'd over Zhu De, one of the most important Red Chinese generals), and finally tried to essentially coup Chiang & hijack the entire Chinese military himself (via threatening to cut Lend-Lease to China if they didn't give him total control over said military) under the delusion that millions of slants would totally obey the orders of a sneering baizuo faggot who blatantly had nothing but contempt for them if he just went hard enough into treating their government the same way the Japs were treating their collaborators under Wang Jingwei. Mercifully even Roosevelt had to recall & replace him with a new guy who was actually interested in doing his job & cooperating with allies instead of shitting on them at every opportunity (Albert Wedemeyer) after that last stunt.
Even the one time he got things right (predicting a Japanese attack to seize USAF-used airbases in China), this braindead asshole fucked shit up with boneheaded decisions which in hindsight were either signs of supreme retarded niggery or an actual conspiracy to undermine Chiang (moving the elite American-trained & armed
Y Force, which could have helped hugely in stopping Op. Ichigo, to Burma with the aforementioned threats of cutting Lend-Lease to China). And even after getting his own dumb ass relieved with his retarded coup attempt, Stilwell
still managed to shit things up for Chiang one last time by having his buddies in the press spin the way he got kicked out of China into a dig at the Nationalists & yet another effort to shill for the Communists in the battle for American public opinion.
As for Marshall, this is better-known: he forced a ceasefire that was absolutely critical to the Red Chinese training, organizing & rearming the units with which they would later steamroll the Nationalist forces, all for negotiations to create some schizo unified Nationalist-Communist government that never actually could've worked. Prior to that ceasefire, the Nationalists had the Communists (who had spent the entirety of WW2's China theater hiding, letting the Nationalists take the most losses & periodically backstabbing local partisans who wouldn't join up with them, either destroying them directly or handing them over to Japan) on the ropes and the Soviets wouldn't have had enough time to help build them up without said ceasefire. Not for nothing did both MacArthur & McCarthy slam the mission as probably the single biggest & most retarded/treasonous blunder of Truman's in Asia shortly afterward, it destroyed the last real chance the Nationalists had to win the Chinese Civil War.
