I read his book and I saw the movie about it on Netflix, and the more that I learn about this guy who's only a few years older than me I could totally imagine him being one of the older kids I hung out with growing up, getting along with everybody and being cool. He's just a normal dude.
I think what scares liberals and the reason that Trump picked him is because he brings just the right amount of legitimacy but at the same time no bullshit.
He's a politician but he can speak on things like the military because he was a Marine in Iraq. He can go after drug dealers and traffickers so hard because his mother was a pain pill and heroin addict.
The type of embarrassing stuff about him like being a hillbilly or having a junkie mom he openly talks about so they aren't skeletons in his closet, they make him more endearing and trustworthy to people.
And they can't even hit him with that racism bullshit because he's got a thank you for calling Apple tech support wife.
I'm a retard who doesn't read so I watched the movie and it struck me how unflattering a lot of the stuff in it was. But that's precisely why I ended up liking it and warming to Vance. All that wild shit in his childhood was real. More specifically, it was relatable. Everyone can remember someone with a similar family situation like JD had when they were growing up, maybe even being in one themselves. Try to imagine

ever admitting to being anything other than perfect their whole life. Imagine them letting any movie maker portray them as a petulant little shit for a good portion of the film instead of the hero who triumphs over overblown, exaggerated or made up instances of racism, bigotry, "patriarchy", or some other bullshit that aren't real problems real people face.
They don't come from the same world the rest of us live in and they go to great lengths not to. As utterly autistic as it will sound, I trust the guy more because he had an upbringing where tater tots and hotdogs were like a banquet. Observe any "how do you do fellow children" tier photo ops where establishment/uniparty types try to do stuff like BBQ's and you'll see what I'm getting at.
Look at any of the democrat contenders for 2028 and tell me what actual problems or adversity they had in their youth. And you know, that wouldn't really mean much in comparison to other things like policy, vision, enthusiasm, and so on. But they're the ones who embraced and pushed an ideology that eschews merit and achievement for how poor and oppressed you are, so fuck em'. The hillbilly who pronounces "syrup" as "surrp" will forever be far more relatable than our "betters" in DC.

I'm reminded of that one tweet that pointed out how these propaganda rags will make a post about RFK eliminating additives or food dyes that like every other country in the world banned because they're literally cancerous and for the article they use that shadowed picture of him. Someone in the administration should honestly frame and gift RFK that one tweet.
