People continue to be shocked that Trump's executive orders stay within the text of the powers vested in him as the President of the United States rather than being diktats of pure will-to-power. An EO is not a declaration of a new law. Some of you seem to think Trump can do whatever the fuck he wants with EOs, no limits whatsoever. An EO is simply a directive to an agency under the executive branch to enforce the law in a particular way. The EO must stay within the powers granted to the President in the statute creating the agency and the laws it enforces.
It really doesn't, the public perception of a particular law is different than what that law entails, all anyone had to do was read the actual documents to see what it actually entailed and to set their expectations accordingly. Instead they just went with the narrative told to them by media agencies they themselves KNOW lie to people to cause panic.
