Well, a miracle of timing and the incompetence of the shooter. I don't see how these are contradictory points. One of the shooter's 8 easily makable shots within the window of a few seconds would've hit Trump in the cranium if not for the head turn. The rest were not even close. That's embarrassing for the shooter. It's more embarrassing (or perhaps incriminating) for the Secret Service, but I'm not going to pretend that this feat of marksmanship is impressive in any way.
I get the sense that leftoids have not yet picked up on the fact that you have to zero an optic to a particular range, and that the optic will lose the zero over time due to rattle and shake, so you have to actually re-zero it pretty often. The Kirk shooter, for example, was most likely not actually aiming for the neck, getting lucky with a miss; and the Trump shooter's setup was reportedly all fucked up.
All it takes is one shot, and he had that shot. Getting a killshot and then firing a few random rounds to cause chaos is a solid strategy for an assassin to slip away in the chaos after getting the target.
