I work in healthcare for a company that operates patient-facing services at a loss and subsidizes that loss with research on the back end. It lets them drive other providers in the space out of business by undercutting everyone, then they buy them all up. Basic monopolist bullshit. Thing is, the government research grants aren't coming in anymore. As a result, they've bit off too much, and expanded too quickly. Now we're disastrously understaffed, and they're letting even more people go. It's a rough spot, and I hope they get fucked in it.
But who gets that revenue?
