Well idk it may not be that much. I have no idea how the pork market works.
Farmers import pork so they can sell domestically at a lower price while still making profit. Without these imports many pork producers will struggle to stay afloat unless if they’re in the top 10%. Many will likely be bought out through aggressive takeover by lobbyist groups. 2020 US Pork Imports Archive. Anyone telling you this will have minimal impact or this will lower domestic costs is downright wrong.

But hey, who cares if ribs are $50 per pound now, we can eat our feelings of MAGA patriotism instead.

Is it a lot relative to how much pork the U.S. exports? Isn't that all that matters? China can import 100 times that amount from other countries, but if U.S. farmers suffer because of it, then it's still a bad outcome for us.

A metric ton is 2204 lbs, so 12k metric tons is 26.4 million pounds. There 1200 million people in china. So figure, how fast can 1200 people go through 26.4 pounds of pork?

It's not a lot of pork.

Are you making shit up again, Battyman?

I do love how buying US Old Hand Me Down military equipment is the best and surest way to say "Yeah, we're cool.".

I'm also always a little surprised how quickly Vietnam was able to get over the Vietnam War. I always got the feeling collectively the whole country agreed that the whole scenario sucked for everyone but they can't let it ruin the future. Any other Asian country would be holding onto that glurge for generations.
I have a theory that the subsequent wars they got into with Cambodia and China sobered them up to the reality that the Americans really weren't that bad in comparison. Sort of like how the Philippines missed America when Japan took over during WW2 despite having had an insurgency for a decent chunk of time

Yeah they had to fight a whole ass war of independence against France, and it’s not like they were ideologically interested in having their own communist revolution. Russia just offered to recognize their independence from France when we declined.

So Ho Chi Minh was a hero of the independence movement prior to all of that, he was like the Vietnamese Nelson Mandela, and they just declared they were communist to hold up their end of the deal with Russia when they got the French to surrender.
Its pretty sad that he legitimately tried diplomacy with the allies to get the French to back off and help him all the way from the end of WW1 to WW2. Nobody wanted to listen to the funny little Asian man
What did Soros' son mean by this?

It's going to be Gavin newsom. He is slowly rehabilitating himself with his podcast
It will be Newsom or Whitmer. Newsom is failing at his rehabilitation and French Laundry will still slaughter him, especially as people get more and more angry about the Covid lies.
Whitmer was also draconian, but has the woman card and is generally liked by democrats

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s controversial chief of staff, who played a central role in a power struggle that gripped the Pentagon, will exit the agency today.

Joe Kasper was originally expected to transition [archive] to another role within the Defense Department, but is now planning to go back to government relations and consulting, he said in an interview.

He will continue to support and advise the Pentagon, he said, but as a special government employee. This will limit him to performing temporary jobs for just 130 days a year.

A former longtime chief of staff to indicted Rep. Duncan Hunter, Kasper was a leading figure [archive] in the firings of senior adviser Dan Caldwell, Hegseth deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick and Colin Carroll, the chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg. The trio were ousted last week in a leak investigation.

Some officials saw the wave of firings as a bid by Kasper to consolidate power.

“Kasper did not like that those guys had the secretary’s ear,” a person familiar with the dynamic said. “He did not like that they had walk-in and hanging-out privileges in the office. He wanted them out. It was a knife fight.”

The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hegseth confirmed Tuesday on Fox & Friends that Kasper would move into a different role at the Pentagon. But he insisted that his top aide had not been fired and reaffirmed support for him.

“Joe is a great guy, great American,” Hegseth said. “He has done a fantastic job for us at the Defense Department…You make changes over time, and we’re grateful for everything Joe’s done.”

This is a reasonable take. The States are in charge of the voting process, not the Federal government. States should require proof of citizenship, but it should come from the Legislature of said State, not the Feds.
States are literally not allowed to do this.

Uh oh, Trumpbros, China is cancelling a yuuuuge pork shipment.
used to be tradition in my part of the country to buy a hog in January and let it fatten up all year on your property and then slaughter it for Christmas day dinner. the fact that we import any at all is disgusting. IF you have any land at all you can support a hog.

Shitmer becoming president would be the worst outcome for America. Not only has she taken some very draconian measures, but she's also completely incompetent. She campaigned pretty much solely on fixing Michigan's roads and she can't even accomplish that after 6+ years. Not to mention the bungled fake kidnapping scandal.

Agricultural dumping is an international act of aggression.
How aggressive of China to decide not to hand out pork to American farmers given the same country just had ridiculous tariffs targeting the Chinese economy and their global trading partners.

I believe you call this fucking around and finding out. But as you said I’m sure it’s nothing and nothing ever happens. Stop thinking about the American farmer’s ability to put food on the table citizen.
